Just saw an entire SL DH66 on eBay for $24.99 untested. If you really love yours, buy that one for parts:

Hi, when you say it doesn't work, will it just not play/read the disc? Mine has to be "initialized" every time or it shows "No Disc". To initialize I turn the unit on then press and hold "Stop" on the unit and the "10-" button on the remote, then it works fine.

Hey this is RaulFixall. You can fix this problem by naking the batteries, I'm mean by taking apart the plastic that cover them. You'll see that the led charging will turn on.

SOURCE: CD changer...doesn't play...says ''no disk''

Yes Dust can cause the problem.
If you want to try cleaning the laser optics:
1. Unplug the unit and remove the cover.
2. Locate the Cd mechanism and you should see the tray where you would normally insert the disc. Look for a glass lens about 1/4 inch in diameter ( usually a blueish tint)
3. With a cotton swab dipped in a little isopropyl alcohol (any pharmacist should have it and it is very inexpensive ) Clean the lens. You do not need a lot of alcohol and any excess will quickly evaporate.
4. Put the cover back on and give it a try

2004 GTO will not eject CDs, says CD mech error.

I just had this happen the other day. It completely jammed up. I ended up having to remove the radio and disassemble the upper changer section to get the disks out. The problem with mine was that one of the disk trays broke and jammed the mechanism. I ended up gutting the changer and and reassembling the radio and installing it in the car to use the AM/FM function. I'm currently in the search for a new radio to swipe the CD changer off of since even radios that you do not have the security code for will work as the coding is in the radio section and not the CD changer. The changer attaches to the top of the radio with 2 T8 and 4 T10 screws and connects with a ribbon cable between the two modules. You'll see the ribbon cable when the top CD changer mechanism. Be careful removing CDs this way as if the player's rotating assembly is not retracted, it is very easy to scratch the disk. Unfortunately I lost a Velvet Revolver disk this way. Good luck! If you are on one of the the big boards I go by TR GTO on both if you need to contact me and I'll walk you through it.

Cd "swallowed" by changer unit

clear any obstructions, clean unit inside, be careful.. Tray can bind up due to dust and lint. Try disk one only and play. Go through all 5 separately and try and see if they all swallow the disk or could be just #3 example. use dust away to clean unit. be careful not to touch laser.

Technics 5 cd changer Model SL PC11 will pick up

This is a problem with the laser assembly which requires service. The laser assembly needs to be replaced as a whole. It is not easy to replace them, but someone with patience, and a knack for mechanical things can do it.

Compatible units

Hi check if your changer connects to the amplifier with a single ribbon cable. if this is the case then the unit is not compatible with anything else.
If it has its own mains cable and a couple of RCA connectors on the rear, then anything should be fine

6 cd changer in 2001 ford expediation

If the unit will not accept or eject any disks, this is a relatively simple fix. Remove the unit from the vehicle. There are 4 T-9 torx screws on the side of the radio. Remove them and slightly lift the CD mechanism from the radio. There are 2 things that need to be unplugged before you can separate the 2 pieces. The 2 wires simply unplug from the bottom of the cd mechanism. The ribbon cable is locked into the socket, you need to grab the lock and gently pull it away from the circuit board. When unlocked the ribbon cable will simply fall out of the socket. Look through the front of the changer mechanism, are there any disks that look out of place? Gently lift the trays to inspect the disks, if one of the disks is too far back you need to get it into place. Reassemble the deck and see what happens.
