Sounds like from your info you have a stopped up drain line. When you say tray I am not sure what you are going to empty. Does the unit empty into a condensate pump. If so sounds like you have a pump problem. If you have a small pan underneath the ac unit with a small float. If this is filling up. You have a stopped up drain. If you can blow out the drain from the inside good. If not the best way is to take a shop vac and **** from the outside drain line. BEST pulls everything out. Rus

The two things it could be, #1 - evaporator leaking refrigerant - unlikely if unit is still cooling o.k. because window units do not hold a lot of refrigerant and if there is a leak bad enough to blow smoke it would have stopped cooling by now. #2 - the humidity is high and the unit has cooled the air right at the discharge down below the dewpoint, a common occurence in window units and automobiles due to the short duct distance from the evaporator to the air outlet whereas with central air systems having longer duct systems the air gains more heat before being discharged into the room.
