Toshiba 47LZ196 - set turns on fine but displays the screen 4" wide striped columns one on the left the other about 4" from the right. blue lite dieplays fine. any ideas???? please.

It can be but rarely the main board, most of these sets have either one or two boards that drive the image on the screen, different names like T-con or Y out etc. the right side board could be the problem or a bad connector or ribbon cable for that side of the screen unit.

Several possible cures and none are a snap to find in most cases.

ground would have to be connected directly to vehicle's frame

So long as there are no inpact marks on the screen or cracks there is an issue with the lcd screen and so long as the machine is in manufactures warranty is covered (1 year).
You would need to get in touch with the company you purchased machine from if it is in warranty

it's burning out. that's a sign of tv failing. there is no repair for that if you used it for 5 years, i doubt you would have warranty for that by now, best option is to replace it.

Possible Defect in programing. Call Manufacturer for possible support in Updating Firmware.

Cover green CRT lens with towel and see if red/blue video is normal......= bad CRT ?.............................T.
