Does my Panasonic PV-GS35 Mini DV Digital Camcorder have a VCR mode and how do I access it? I am trying to copy a VHS tape to mini DV and I cannot get my camera to do it.

The Panasonic PV-GS35 will let you record digital media to the mini DV cassette if the other video source has a DV input/output connection. Then you use the 4-pin to 4-pin Firewire DV cable, PV-DDC9 . This cable is available from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/LETO-FireWire-Panasonic-Camcorder-PV-DDC9/dp/B00MLQVMSK , and other vendors. The digital camera doesn't have the S-video input needed to record from most other sources.

For information on the digital dubbing feature, see the manual starting on page 42. Panasonic has the manual on the product support page: https://shop.panasonic.com/support-only/PV-GS35.html . The current link to the manual is ftp://ftp.panasonic.com/camcorder/om/pv-gs19_en_om.pdf . See page 13 of the manual for the location of the DV port.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: PV GS 35 wont play tapes from other cameras

perhaps it has to do with the SP and LP settings, I know certain video editing programs won't capture video recored in LP.

SOURCE: Describe your Panasonic PV-GS35 Mini DV Digital

There was an earlier post that explained the black ribbon between the LCD viewfinder and the body of the camera is split. You would have to buy a new LCD viewfinder for about $90 or send it back to them to fix for around $250. The same thing happened to my camera and I can actually is the split. If you close it down more than half way the picture shows up. I called Panasonic and they said you have to buy the whole LCD, that you can't just buy the ribbon. They don't even have a part number for just the ribbon. Good luck.

SOURCE: i want some software for editing panasonic pv- dv

If you want basic, non-professional editing capablities, and you use a Windows PC, try Microsoft Movie Maker, which may be downloaded here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx and the user guide may be viewed here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/default.mspx

You might also look at a pay program, AVS Video Editor here: http://www.avs4you.com/AVS-Video-Editor.aspx

My camcorder is spoilt and I am left with many mini DV tapes which I cannot download to the PC without the camcorder. Is there any solution for this?

since it is in digital format a standered VCR wont read them the hi-8 tapes have a bigger VCR tape you can put the hi-8 tape in and insert that into a VCR but the hi-8 is an analog tape and.mini-DV is digital "DV = Digital Video" so a standard VCR wont read them the only way is to borrow a friends Mini-DV camera and copy all your tapes over. they do make a Mini-DV player but even the cheap ones cost more than a new camcorder would! Sorry to hear about your camcorder I hope this helps

Video transfer not working

  1. connect VCR(recorder) to TV, select TV proper channel to get signal from VCR
  2. connect Mini DV to VCR, for example, you are using AV1 input on your VCR
  3. on you VCR, select channel(or input) to AV1, insert a blank tape
  4. turn your Mini DV to play mode and play, press REC on your VCR
you should get picture now.

Panasonic camcorder

I'm no expert, but I don't think you can do that with just the video camera alone. First you'd have to pass your video onto a computer using dv motion studio and then you can put that output file onto a sd card. I don't think it would be possible to play that video off the card on the camera. Hope that helps

Hi,
Do you put a tape in when you try to record or do you connect to a DVD / VCR so that it records onto the DVD or VHS?
If this is how you do it, then I will recommend you use a mini DV tape instead.
Hope this helps.
