I just recieved an email supposedly from yahoo mail support asking for my username and password to weed out people sending viruses. Is this true, or a scam?

If you remember your deferred email account address and still log in to that email system you can contact yahoo mail directly at (800) 318-0162 and have them send you a password reset. Once you reset your password you can log in to Yahoo!Mail and close the account. They might even be able to confirm over the phone your idenity and close it directly but that is usually a long shot due to security reasons, but always worth asking about.

Reset password of the other email.
If all else fails, create a new Yahoo email account.

If possible run virus check on your computer first.
Open Yahoo site and click on I can't access my account"
Choose "i have a problem with my password"
click NEXT
Input your Yahoo ID
System will ask you which email to send the RESET to
So, you may need to have a different email account set up to be able to receive Yahoo password reset link.

check the settings,some spam/virus can change the settings of your mail and set them into "forward all mails directly to some other address".
if all settings are in good condition change your yahoo password and re login, send test mail to yourself and all done.

Yahoo has changed versions, there were several emails sent out to users in the last few months regarding this change.

Try a password reset, and if that doesn't work, contact Yahoo support.

What you do is, open yahoo mail on your pc, enter your username, then instead of entering your password, you click the 'forgotten password?' link. Then you would be asked to give answers to security questions you had earlier set. They would send you a password reset.

Are you able to log into your new yahoo email account with the correct email address and password? If not, please make sure you do that. If yes, but you are not able to send or recieve emails, then something is wrong with your yahoo email account. After logging in, on the top part you will see 'options' and 'mailoptions'. Go to options, and go to help. Send a support ticket to yahoo asking why you are having this problem. I had once had a problem recieving any email but my yahoo account had been hijacked. get some help if you can locate the help button to ask for technical support. they answer is a few days, and mostly they resolve problems

I have three mail id and i did not receive any mil asking for updating the information.If yahoo really wants us to update the information we can directly go to our mail profile and do it why should we send a mail???I feel suspicious.

This isn't Yahoo it is a solution site for Yahoo mail problems. No one here will be able to give you your password. When you signed up to Yahoo you were asked security questions in case you forget your username or password. Under your Yahoo login there should be an option that says I forgot my password, click on it and follow the instructions
