I have an LG stainless steel dishwasher, 3 months old. It stopped washing altogether, any type of soap (liquid, tablets, powder, gel) just ends up at the bottom and does not dissolve. The dishes end up as dirty as they went in. I have taken everything removable out to check for clogs and can't find anything. Any ideas? No error message displays. Thanks!
I have a LG LDF7811 (3 yrs old). It was not getting the dishes clean and left soap caked in the dispenser. I realized that the bottom rotor was never spraying water during the entire cycle, only the top rotor. This was due to the fact that the "Vario" motor, an LG feature that switches the water periodically between the top and bottom rotors, was never switching the water to the bottom rotor. I troubleshot this, found the Vario motor was ok. There is also a microswitch attached to the motor that tells the control board which position the motor is in and that was ok.
I followed the wires from the Vario motor to the control board and found them melted into the acoustic tar like insulation in the door and the two wires were broken, one of which feeds the Vario motor. I spliced the wires and wrapped everything in electrical tape. Everything works fine now.
That said, this was a dangerous situation. The line that feeds the Vario motor that was broken is 120VAC feed. Aside from a fire hazard, had the wrie shorted to the stainless steel tub door there was potential for a serious shock hazard, I would suggest, anyone experiencing problems with LG dishwashers should check these wires inside the door first. Any number of these different wires could be the cause. I have seen quite a few other posts on LG dw where these wires were melted into the insulation and broken.
Try hotter water but be careful in shower
