I wish I knew. But Brother really has a fantastic service department and they support all their machines. I think if you contact them they'd help you out. I have Brother printers and they have always been absolutely fabulous when I had questions or needed service and I have no reason to think they'd be anything other than helpful for any of their machines. Their site is here.. choose your country.
well you might want to try and get it out and put it correctly, it does sound like it is in wrong. You are so right it should not be hitting the bobbin carrier, getting it out and putting it in correctly is the only thing I can think of.
Im about %99 sure you will only be able to get this part from a bernina dealer or someone who is friends with a bernina dealer.
I also think that that hook is the same hook that is still being used is all bernina 5.5 mill machines today so it should be eazy to get.
We sell the part for about $110.
Why do you think you need a new hook? I think I have seen about 3 of them hooks go bad in my life (so not many).
Hope this helps
I don't have a solution, but I also have this problem. I honeslty think these washing machines are the worst! They were some of the first built and I think they made a lot of mistakes with them.
Hello, I rebuild these machines. I dont think you need any parts to fix your machines. I find the reason for machines not shutting off is the machine needs the drive clutch and transmision needs cleaned. If you want to talk call 614-580-9676. Im eastern time zone.

Using the 'wrong detergent' could hardly damage a washer; I think it is coincidence that the problem occurred at this time.
There is a safety switch that shuts down motion of any kind in most modern machines if the lid is raised and I think either that switch or the relay it controls is failing.
