The problem can be may this however hard resetting it can fix the issue

Push ONLINE and ENTER Buttons simultaneously and HOLD for 10 seconds after you see "Executing Reset" appear in menu window. 8. Restart printer.
What os are your using? XP, Vista, Win 7?) Also, was this a new motherboard and what type of case are you using? Lastly, I would recommend you checking your BIOS and make sure there are no limits set on the memory cap. (Usually found in older system but check anyway.)

Ram should always be paired. Same type, speed and size in each slot. You may have 1 SIMM/DIMM/DDR that has 2 sides of chips and the other with 1 which will do exactly what you state.
RAM reads across the chips simultaneously. So if you have a different one in each slot it can go bonkers and do goofy stuff on you.
