I have a westinghouse 52" smart tv. The sound goes out. I have to go into settings, advanced options, HDMI and turn ARC on and then off again. Is there a way to stop this from happening?

You might check for updates. Or try reset to factory then either stop or limit updates if possible. This sounds like a software glitch. It is also possible that an update didnt load properly but still worked until this issue.

SOURCE: Sony Bravia KDL52XBR5 picture blanks out using HDMI port

I think this has to do with the cable box not liking the encryption thing going on with the sony tv. The cable boxes probably don't understand it fully and therefore you have intermittant problems. I would just use component inputs. Which are analog and no encryption problems. I hope this was helpful. I bet it doesn't happen using a sony DVD Player or a blue ray DVD Player either. Sony, Sony, Sony.....Good stuff...but they have their moments. Let me know if u come up with a fix for this and then i will post it on my fix it list.. Thank you again..GURU JAY

SOURCE: JVC LT-32DS75SJ issue with HDMI

Try this

1. Turn ON TV
2. Connect PS3 to TV HDMI input
3. select TV HDMI input for PS3
4. turn OFF PS3 if it is ON
5. Press and hold the [I/O]Power button until the PS3 until you get the "HDMI Detected" message.

Also, this TV has a circuit that deactivates the HDMI if the rear cover is removed. It is possible the HDMI may have been turned OFF. This is reset in the service menu of the TV.

SOURCE: Westinghouse LTV-20V4 turning on PROBLEM

I had this problem with these tv`s. As mentioned the problem lies with the power supply inside the unit. Some of the units i`ve seen have 2 blown capacitors on the power supply (C7 and C6 which are 0.227microFarad) replacing these works. On others, the capacitors as well as a few transistors
(Q8 - Q1, HSD965) are blown. But on all the sets i have seen with this problem, changing the above components restores full functionality to the system.

I am getting no sound when on TV sound.

Yes, to get sound from your Roku TV to your receiver when using the TV's built-in apps (such as switching to TV sound), you might need more than just RCA cables. RCA cables only carry analog audio signals, and many modern devices, including Roku TVs, use digital audio signals for better quality.
Here's what you can do to ensure you're getting sound from your Roku TV to your receiver:
  1. Check Audio Settings on Roku TV:
    • Go to your Roku TV's settings menu.
    • Look for the audio settings section.
    • Make sure the audio output is set to the correct option for your receiver. This is usually HDMI ARC (Audio Return Channel) or Optical audio.
  2. Use HDMI Cable with ARC Support:
    • If your receiver and TV support HDMI ARC, connect an HDMI cable between the ARC HDMI port on your TV and the ARC HDMI port on your receiver.
    • Ensure that the HDMI input on your receiver corresponds to the HDMI ARC output on your TV.
    • In the TV's audio settings, select HDMI ARC as the audio output.
  3. Use Optical Cable (if no HDMI ARC):
    • If your TV and receiver don't support HDMI ARC, you can use an optical audio cable (Toslink cable).
    • Connect one end of the optical cable to the optical audio output on your TV.
    • Connect the other end to the optical audio input on your receiver.
    • In the TV's audio settings, select optical audio as the audio output.
  4. Configure Receiver Settings:
    • Ensure that your receiver is set to the correct input source for audio. For example, if you're using HDMI ARC, select the corresponding HDMI input on your receiver.
  5. TV App and Volume Settings:
    • When using apps on your Roku TV, make sure the volume is turned up and not muted within the app itself.
    • Adjust the TV's volume settings to an appropriate level that allows your receiver to amplify the sound effectively.
  6. Test with Different Content:
    • Test the setup with different apps on your Roku TV to ensure that the issue is not specific to a certain app.
If you've tried these steps and are still not getting sound from your Roku TV through your receiver, it's possible that there might be compatibility issues between your TV and receiver. You could also try reaching out to Roku's customer support or your receiver's manufacturer for further assistance.

I have a Sony bluray surround sound and lg smart tv, I can't play my Apple TV sound through my hts, all my connections are hdmi and both systems have arc, please help?

Is your Apple TV connected to the Sony or directly to your TV? If directly connected to the Sony HTS ARC shouldn't be needed and you should have audio. If that's the case check the Apple TV settings to be sure it isn't set for s/pdif output. If connected to the TV then the TV should be able to put a s/pdif signal on the HDMI ARC pin but perhaps there's no way to assign it to the HDMI input coming from the HTS? It may be going to the ARC pin on the Apple TV HDMI input which won't give you any sound. Normally ARC is intended to put the s/pdif signal from the TV's internal tuner on the HDMI cable from the HTS so the HTS can play TV sound without having to tun a separate Toslink cable from the TV s/pdif output to the HTS. One other thing: Early HDMI cables do not include the ARC wire so be sure you have ARC capable cables. Look in your TV documentation to see if there is a way to assign the ARC output to a different incoming HDMI input if the Apple TV is connected directly to the TV. If not you may need to resort to a Toslink optical cable from your TV to an optical input on your HTS. Or actually running that cable from Apple TV to the HTS would be better since it's possible it could carry surround sound. Most TV's optical outputs are limited to the 2 channel sound the TV can accept.

How do I connect Samsung smart TV to a Yamaha receiver and get sound to come out of surround sound speakers?

Generally you will connect the Digital audio or optical audio cable from TV to the input of Receiver. Then using the remote control of Receiver you will program the source for digital audio or optical audio as TV. I am assuming the speakers on the receiver are already connected and working. All you do is then turn on TV and turn on Receiver and select TV on Receiver. The TV audio will play through the receiver. Make sure the TV sound is in Mute.

Have lg 55ls5700 tv trying to connect samsung hw-f450

I suspect that the TV you have does not support the ARC function that the sound bar has. What you may have to do is use the Optical In from the sound bar to the TV and you should be good to go. You may have to change the TV's settings to use the Optical In though. So you should end up with the BluRay Player connected to the TV via an HDMI cable, the sound bar connected to the TV via the Optical In using a fiber optic cable. Hope this helps.

For hdmi audio transfer, ur TV should have to hdmi arc enable option,
Or check with TV optical option,

If no more optical and hdmi arc option in ur TV, then no more options
U have to connect analogue only..
