I replaced the TCON Card on my TOSHIBA 46G300U but same problem as before. When turned on fine for half hour so but then picture quality deteriorates. Ghost images, then little checkered background. Sometimes color lines. TV is ten years old. Is it time to toss? Anything I can do on a cost effective basis to repair? PS I have made sure all cables are securely and correctly connected.
Tossing it is not that easy since it is a problem disposing of electronics now. The issue is one of troubleshooting, What is changing over time that causes the failure? Since you most likely dont have a forward looking infrared camera, you can check to see if something is overheating by using a can of freeze spray or by a hand held infrared thermometer, It might not be heat related, it could be a breakdown in a semiconductor. Sometimes it is not as easy as swapping parts.
Ten years old? Toss it.

SOURCE: Replaced IP board on Samsung 930B now other problems.
Try a little backtracking....Check all internal connections. Make sure you didn't leave any insulator out allowing pc contact to case where it should not be. Make sure no wiring is pinched under screw or pc card causing a short to case.

Hello, I have a question which video inputs are you using for your DVD and Wii connections? The reason I ask is because this sounds like video distortion cuased by noise. If possible can you send a picture of the screen when it has this problem and send which video ports are being used? If it is noise in the video you may have a saw filter problem, or a decoupling issue. In any event I'll know more once you send those pictures and which inputs you are using for your DVD and Wii. SOURCE: replaced lamp in toshiba 46hm84. still get
Hi,do you hear any strange noises? If you hear clicking or like wanting to turn on it could be the board that powers the lamp it's called the ballast. Here's the instructions to replace it :http://www.fixyourdlp.com/guides/samsung/bp47-00033a.php The ballast is the most common failure besides the lamp. The ballast is the one that displays the lamp indicator if it's not able to power bulb or if bulb is not responding.Have a blessed one!
