Hi, my dewalt DEW773 was working intermittently and then completely stopped working. I have changed the brushes and had no joy and then read online it could be the switch but again it’s not working. I don’t think it can be the motor because it hasn’t smoke or make any weird noises. Can anyone help please?? Thanks

You will need to ensure that you have power to switch and from switch. The motor not smoking does not mean it can't be bad

SOURCE: whirlpool washer ultimate care II lsq8500JQ1 top...Problem

Ok folks to change the lid switch on these and many top loading Whirlpool, Maytag, Kenmore, etc is quite easy.

Steps to replace the lid switch:

1. Remove unit from AC.
2. Remove the loading door from the unit, or using some duct tape tape it closed.
3. Using a small flat bladed screwdriver find the 2 release catches on the front of the unit between the top cover and front panel. These are just snap claps to hold the top cover down. To release the top you will need to compress the latch using the screwdriver. Start with one side, then the other. Once you have released both clips the lid will lift up just like the hood of your car.
4. You will now be able to remove the lid switch from the unit.
5. Install the new switch and close the hood of the unit.
6. Test the repair by running the unit though a complete cycle.

A great place to order the replacement part for the unit is:

www.appliancepartspros.com

They ship same day on orders placed before 3pm EST. Overnight shipping is available, however I usually opt for the 2-3 day ground shipping and save the money.

If this switch replacement does not take care of the problem, you might need to replace the control board located under the front panel. This replacement is also very easy and takes about 10 min from start to finish.

Hope this helps everyone. Cheers,

Keith

SOURCE: 14.4v dewalt xr2 drill

Some cordless Dewalt drills do not have open motors allowing access to the brushes. However there are a few styles that do.

If you want to check, open your drill. Remove the screws from the housing. Then remove half of the housing. You can see the motor at the back of the tool. If there are vents at the back of the motor you may be able to see the brushes the removable type are connected to a gray or tan piece of plastic mounted at the back of the motor.

If the brushes are from a removable style you can purchase a brush set. If they are hidden in the motor. You will have to change the whole motor.

You can check the Dewalt Service Net web site to find out.

My dewalt 984 burnt out stopped working, replaced brushes but still not working

Put a meter on the two wires that come from the switch to the brush holders, if there is no voltage then it is the switch. If there is voltage then make sure the new brushes are not stuck in their holders.

Dewalt 18vxrp stopped working. Any suggestions???

Knock the back end against something. Or shake the drill and if it sputters, it could be a loose wire, or more likely worn brushes. If that doesn't do anything, open the case and check with a volt meter if you are getting any current past the switch (ie hold the terminals from the volt meter onto the brushes or onto the leads coming out of the top of the switch.)

If you get a reading of 19V to a couple volts less, then you're switch is most likely okay. Check for worn brushes. Or a motor replacement might be necessary. (Yes it's easy to do)

Just stopped working completely no power

This is an excellent tool, I have 3 myself and I've had similar issues. Here are a few things you can try.

1. Dewalt seems to have a glitch in the speed control slide on the top. I say this because with two of my drills I sometimes have to slide it from low speed to high, and then back again to get it to engauge.

2. I have also had to clean the contact points in the charger, as well as the ones on the drill.

I hope one of these will help resolve your issue.

The saw do not stop when i off the trigger

the commutator might be dirty, try and turning the brushes 180 degrees and you might have to clean the commutator with a stone for that purpose to seat the brushes.

They all do that a bit. The sparks when starting up and stopping are normal. If it has been used alot brushes may be a good idea but before they need to be changed it will spark quite a bit.

It will not hurt to inspect the amount of brush material remaining.

I have a 18V DeWalt cordless drill. I pull the trigger and get intermittent power. Is the switch going out?

It depends on what you mean by intermittent. If the drill takes a few tries to turn on, but works fine once it does, it usually means there's a problem with the switch. If the power is weak and tends to cut out, it generally means there's a problem with the motor - usually brushes. This article might clear things up a bit:

Whodunnt? The brushes or the switch?

You can get whichever part you need replaced on that same site.

Hello, I have a dewalt drill cordless 12V. I have taken the casing off and want to know how I want to know how I get to the brushes. It has stopped working and suspect that it is the brushes. I am not...

I fix cordless DeWalt drills every week!Look for two black carbon-like blocks found on either side of the commutator ( the central spindle ) they will each have one wire on the outside end attached to a spade connector so the brush can be easily removed by prying it out from beneath the spring holding the brush against the commutator.  Then the wire can be removed and the new brush installed.    Go online to http://www.toolpartsdirect.com and search for your model dewalt drill. they have an exploded diagram and parts listing for each model drill.  That will identify the brush for you if you have never seen one before.    If the drill was operating intermittently with lots of noise and usually blue sparks coming out, loss of power, increasing intermittant operation it would almost certainly benefit from replacing the brushes.   If it is simply dead, and was ever dropped.  check the battery terminals and the trigger mechanism.  Of course inspect the battery and check inside the drill for loose or broken wires and connections. I hope this is helpful. Good luck!
