AVI is a container and maybe your video player cannot support the audio format.
In this case, you should download another AVI player to open the avi file, and you could try Leawo Blu-ray Player, which could support a lot of formats including AVI and it's a region-free and 4K player.

Films on usb have no sound

suggest downloading as many Android media players onto the TV from Google playstore and try them all. There will be some AVI files that just don't play on Android you might be able to convert avi to another video format with a file converter program.
Suggest VLC player but it is troublesome on android operating systems.
might work on your laptop or computer for the avi file.

I'm trying to play movie files through my toshiba lcd tv via a usb and it won't work. i've tried converting mvi and wmv files to mpeg or avi and still won't play. can you tell me which type of file works...

You have not mentioned the TV model #.. If your TV does not play avi. files I am sorry to tell you it does not support moving pictures -- it only supports MP3 music files and JPEG picture files !!. Try these two to confirm.

Sony Vegas Movie studio 8.0 - I put in pictures, video and music, but only the music plays. No video or photos appear when I play the video

Because Sony Vegas support WMV, MPG (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4), MP4, MOV, ASF, SWF, FLV, etc. It doesn't support .avi format. So I want to know your video files format.

If ur video file format is .avi format or other video format that Sony Vegas doesn't support. We need convert AVI files into WMV, MPG, MP4, MOV supported by Sony Vegas. AVI to Sony Vegas is a good solution to import AVI to Sony Vegas for editing.

Video Converter Platinum is the most advanced AVI to Sony Vegas Converter software which can convert HD videos (inc.HD TS, HD MPG, HD MPEG, HD MP4, HD AVI), TOD, MOD, MTS, AVI (DivX, Xvid, etc.), QuickTime Video, 3GP, VOB, etc to Sony Vegas.

Sony CD/DVD Player DVP-NS50P not playing my avi files DVD+RW

You need to convert avi files to dvd format before burning, otherwise the player won't recognize them. Google "avi to dvd" and you'll find a number of free or pay programs that will do the conversion for you.

File won't play video

The reason that the video is not playing is because the video uses certain "codecs" to decode the video. (It is basically a way that the computer interprets how to display the video on your screen.)

You need to install a good codec pack so that you can play all formats of video and/or audio.

I recommend using K-Lite Mega Codec Pack. It plays everything from Windows Media (AVI) to Quicktime files and just about everything in between. This is a very widely-used and popular codec pack. It also comes with a much simpler version of Windows Media Player. (It shows as an older version...and even looks like an older version, but it is only based on the older version as it honestly worked much better than newer versions.)

Here is the link.

(Click HERE to download the codec pack.)

Just use the DEFAULT installation. Don't change anything. There is no need to. Once it is installed, it will use the version of Windows Media Player that I just mentioned by default.

But if you still wish to use version of Windows Media Player that you currently have installed, then you may feel free to do so. It will still play videos using the same codecs that were installed by K-Lite. (All A/V programs will use the codecs.)

Another player I have recently found is GomPlayer. Very nice interface. Clean and easy to use. Install K-Lite and try out GomPlayer if you like afterwards.

HERE is a link. According to the site, you may not have to install any other codec packs after installing GOMPlayer. That may or may not be true. It IS OK if you install both.

Good luck. Let me know how it goes. :)

AVI file is not running

With .avi files the issue is usually which video codec has been used to encode it - all players will have certain codecs installed, and if the second player you describe does not have the approprtiate codec then it will struggle to play the file - occasionally the audio codecs can have the same effect, also on video. In your video conversion program you should be able to choose from a list of codecs to use to encode the .avi file, check which one you used and then check it is installed on the computer that is experiencing the problem. Windows media player, if it is fully updated should be able to cope with the majority of codecs, the best player for .avi files at the moment is DivX player, available free for download at; http://www.divx.com divx player also may need to be fully updated after you install it, this is an easy procedure, just click "Check for new versions" in the "help" menu to make sure you have the latest divx codecs installed Hopefully this will allow you to play the files on both machines. If you still have trouble, then type the name of the codec used by your converter program into a search engine, and you should find a location to download it from with installation instructions. Hope this helps, ask again if you still have trouble :)
