That particular unit is very sensitive to scratched or dirty disks. Remove the disk and make sure there are no finger prints, peanut butter & jelly, or popcorn butter stains on the back side. If there is, gently wash the disk under warm water with a DROP of mild dish detergent, being careful not to scratch the surface. Rinse the disk well and dry with a soft, lint free cloth (like an old cotton t-shirt) again being careful to avoid scratching the disk. Replace the disk and play.
If the disk is scratched, there is little hope of fixing the scratch so the unit can read it.....
Check with other DVD disks, see if it play, might have bad disk in that one, like scratches, cracks,or smushes. The disk u playing is a chamerical DVD Disk right? Not burn disk?Might just go in Ur DVD player just reset every setting back to the factory setting.
Try cleaning the lens, also the inside of the player in and around the disk tray is probably full of dirt, dust etc, carefully try cleanig all that out, you may need to disassemble a bit to get at everything
dvd are up to 6 times the density of a cd there making the laser eye read much closer rings on the disks. so in other words its having a hard time reading dvd.
the only thing you can do is take a cotton swap dipped in alcohol and open the tray look with a flashlight for a small optical eye in exact center of dvd player and rub lightly on it to remove dust build up or spray some canned air into the dvd youll hit it. try it again and if no sound again the computer cant keep up with the dvd or vise versa.
