You have the right idea in the door switch as a place to start and yes it can be jumped or tested with an ohm meter which is safer. The other thing that can happen is the belt break or come off or the safety switch at the belt tensioner be open or damaged wires.

I hope this helps.

I have the same problem with my Kenmore Elite dryer (model#110.74992300), and I replaced both the motor and heater relay and the problem solved. You can get the relay from www.mouser.com for $3 each. The model for the relay is T9AP1D52-48. You may want to open up the dryer to verify the relay model, it is printed on the relay.

I've been going crazy with this too. Turns out all you have to do is hold down the "options" & "select" buttons at the same time until the "lock light" (the light just above the "pause/cancel" button) turns off. I guess that's why there is a line under the option/select buttons that have a lock symbol connecting the two.

Cheers!

Push the button manually and see if the light goes off . If it does , then the problem is the thermal fuse (a white slim piece of plastic with 2 wires connected to it ) located on the blower housing beneath the drum .

I have an 800 series Kenmore dryer. Light bulb off and not working even though tested with ohm and getting power.

check the door switch for the safety ,, a multi meter can be used, or just connect the 2 points together with a jumper wire, that will bypass the switch so you can see if thats the problem,, if that checks out ok, check the actual start switch,, you can check it in the same manor

Dryer wont start

may be door switch, you can bypass it and see if it will start.....or if you hear a click when push the start button it may be your reset switch on you motor.

Kenmore 80 series dryer no work

bypass door switch , if that doesnt work and you have replaced start switch already. then i would unplug unit remove back panel and look for the blower housing , on the blower wheel housing or to the right should be a white thermostat with 2 wires going to it.round shaped and it mounts to the blower housing by pass it and it should work however dont leave it bypassed. hope this helps

Kenmore elite smart sensor model 110.6506 wont run

Many different possibilities. Could be thermal fuse, timer / control, motor. Start switch, or door switch. Most likely need to call service unless you have means to troubleshoot and test parts.

Dryer won't start due to delay button lights up and won't go off

1. No power to the dryerMake sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).
