If you are on a cable or dish box caption is coming from the box, on cable turn TV on, box off press menu, get box service menu, turn caption off pretty simple

How can I turn off CC on my SONY 52XBR. I used the Remote control settings and selected off on the cc display, but the cc never turns off. I also used the menu button on the side of the T.V to select

If Closed Captioning is being displayed even though the CC option in the TV menu is set to Off , then it is being produced by another device, such as a cable or satellite set-top box. To remove the Closed Captioning from the TV screen, it must be disabled on the device that is decoding the Closed Captioned signal.
NOTE: Some set-top boxes may automatically display Closed Captioning on the TV screen when the set-top box sound is muted. If this is the case, turn off the Mute function of the set-top box

How do i get caption only on mute

On newer Sony TVs you press the CC button to cycle through the available settings for Closed Captions (CC): On, Off, and On when
Muting.

However, it looks like your factory remote control lacks a CC button and your TV menu appears to have a simple Off/On option for what Sony calls Caption Vision. If that is the case then you would need to manually turn on Caption Vision when you mute the television. That hardly seems like the solution you're after.

If you had an aftermarket remote control that could record macros you might be able to program it so that when you press the mute button the TV would mute and also turn on Closed Captioning. This would require the proper remote control and some expertise.

Cannot lose close captions from screen even though it has been turned off at the menu. Any suggestions?

Check the caption settings in the menu for your video source, (cable box or satelite reciever), the signal could be originating there.

I try to put the caption vision CC1, and it does not work

Is it reading or working on some channels? If it is your set is working correctly as not every channel has closed caption available on them. Good Luck
