Lamp doesn't light on SP 500, SP-Lamp-017. How do

if it was working before lamp replaced "replace lamp" appeared on the screen either lamp somehow not in correctly, new lamp bad, or something happened during lamp installation--have you tried to put the old lamp back?

if you take the lamp door off, pay attention to the "peg" on the lamp door to see where it depresses the safety switch. if you look it is a silver metal lever that this peg pushes in. plug the unit in and find something no conductive to push and hold the lever in. while holding the lever in push the power button. if the unit powes up then that means the lamp door has distortion from the heat of the lamp. you can try to find another lamp door, or you can get creative and find a way to meld some more plastic to the length of the "peg".

make sure the colorwheel is spinning. if it is not, replace it. also, blow the dust out of it with canned air. excessive dust kills lamps quickly. you'll also need to reset the lamp timer. are you using an sp-lamp-009? the sp-lamp-018 looks exactly like it, but is used in th x1a and x2. the x1 only uses the sp-lamp-009. if all else fails, replace the power supply.

Often a lamp reset procedure is required as well as changing the lamp over. not sure for the hitachi's (check Manual) over models often requires holding poweer button while plugging into power to reset the counter.

the lamp ballast is bad and needs replacement.

it would still try to turn on even iff there wasn't a lamp in it. if it won't even turn on, see if the switch inside the lamp door is working. it won't turn on if the door is open. also, the thermoswitch on to of the lamp compartment (through the inside) may also be blown and needs replacement.

Your lamp might be ok, but you power supply is dead. If your not seeing any led lights come on when the power cord is plugged in then your power supply is dead. I can fix this for you for less then it cost to send to infocus or to a repair shop. Ebay Id is Gtitubro

what I understand is that your lamp is not giving light. Pls check the ballast unit for that. Or tell something more about ur projector to solve the problem.

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
