Question about GE Lands Phones

Open Question

I unplugged a GE model 2-9876C answering machine. Is there anyway to recover the 4 messages that were on the machine before I unplugged it. Who do I contact?

I also had this problem. I have my phone thru Charter. It seems that you may need to call your telephone support (Comcast or whoever) and set up your service for voicemail. You may need to make up a pin number for this. I called Charter telephone service and the guy walked me thru the steps I needed to get set up..
This solved the problem for me.

We have the answering machine set to 4 rings. When people call, the machine picks up on the 4th ring, it beeps, then cuts off. No recorded message. No message is recorded, the call is disconnected. What do we do?
send me email.

Recovering messages

The 1337's User Guide mentions the battery that keeps messages during power failures. I suspect those message were lost when the power went down.

Calls not saved when power is disconnected

For this particular model it says that when you want to move the unit you must NEVER unplug the power cord from the BACK OF THE UNIT! Doing so erases all messages. Terrible feature. Who would have ever guessed unplugging it from the back of the unit would erase all messages! Frustrating!
