57H93 Toshiba My 3 year old son tried to "clean the TV like Daddy" with Lysol kitchen cleaner... I tried cleaning it off with a damp cloth or Monster LCD cleaning solution, it didnt work. I think I'm gonna hafta replace the screen. Any thoughts where i can get a replacement screen? Also some other sites spoke of different protective styles of screens. thanks Derrick [email protected]

After the self cleaning process you might see i wight powdery residue. This can be cleansed out with a damp cloth. No chemicals should be needed. If you use household cleaners you may have some odore when you use your oven so I would just use a damp cloth.

These screens do not like water or chemical cleaners. I would try rubbing a soft damp cloth on a small section then dry it quickly gently with a soft dry cloth. If you see an improvement, clean the rest of the screen that way slowly a section at a time. Thats how I cleaned my Samsung Projection TV screen, I spent 30 min or so doing it but it was not very dirty.

You do not want to use any harsh chemical or anything in excess. What I use and recommend is simply water and dish soap such as ivory. Use clean lint free paper towels or cotton or soft fabrics. You put a drop or two of detergent on a damp towel.You gently wash the screen then wipe it dry. The towel needs to be damp but not enough so that you get any running water.You may need to do it in small sections. If you use too much soap you get streaks. If that happens just get another damp piece without soap and go over and then use the dry to wipe the screen dry. The soap takes off anything without harming the anti-glare coatings on the screens. The wrong type of alcohol or a harsh cleaner can strip these coatings off or damage the plastics. Dish soap and water is very safe dirt cheap and found in the kitchen usually. ;-]

You can try to use a harsher cleaner like lysol but sometimes the streaks are permanent. The screen is glass but some tvs have a glare reduction layer that can be destroyed with harsh cleaners (like lysol). Your soap cleaning shouldn't have damaged it.. I would try just water and see if the streaks change. If they keep changing as you clean, its probably some scummy residue, but if they apprear to be permanent, then it could be damage. I always recommend the store bought plasma cleaner with the microfiber cloth, but if you smoke or have a really dirty tv, sometimes you have to cut it with lysol or something. Clean at your own risk, as anything not made to clean the tv can sometimes cause damage. I've seen paper towels scratch the glossy frames sometimes even.. good luck

You're absolutely correct with the no cleaners thing, however if you dampen a lint-free cloth with water it will help to get those fingerprints off. Wipe dry, and you should be good.

most of the time you wont get these types of stain out but sometimes they do come out. what i use is monster screen clean. if it doesnt come out you will need to replace the sreen. they usuall run from 75 dollars to 150

I hope you have repaired this concern by now, but if you have not there are cleaners one can buy at local electronic retail/part stores made for cleaning your bs screens, or your can use a mild soap such as dawn with a damp, soft cloth. Make sure you wipe up&down, not side to side. i hpoe this was helpful.
