Olympus Stylus 410 digital flash not working

I have the same problem. Have tried everything going through the settings etc. I have had my camera a couple of years, so it is out of warranty, it I can take pictures if I take it off flash but not with it on. Has anyone managed to sort it out or managed to get any help from Olympus?

How do i turn flash off on my olympus stylus 410 camera

Press cursor-right repeatedly to cycle through the various flash modes. The one you want is the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it. For full details see the "Using the flash" section in the reference manual (beginning on page 72 in my copy). If you need a manual you may download a copy from here.

Telescoping lens opens but the view finder continues to flash an orange light and I can not push the button and take a picture. I have ordered a new battery to see if that helps because the camera is used...

Before trying the new battery, try cleaning the battery compartment contacts with a cotton swab dampened, not drenched, in rubbing alcohol. Blow dry the compartment and then try the new battery. Thanks, Dana

Flash Does not work. Can only take pictures in flash-off mode

The problem you are describing is a problem with the flash charging indicator switch inside the camera. It seems to have failed and needs to be replaced. Following are the instructions to send your camera to Olympus for service.

http://olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_servicerepair.asp

Olympus will charge a flat rate repair fee for this product if beyond the one year factory warranty or the warranty is voided. The cost is $83 plus your local sales tax. This covers parts and labor, factory cleaning and diagnostic check, 6 month warranty and the cost of shipping the product back to you is all included in that price.

OLYMPUS 410

It is something that seems to be a problem with the Stylus 410s. Olympus will not repair them unless they are under warrenty, I've tried. My best advice, and what I am in the midst of myself (I have 2 of these with the same problem) is to file with the BBB. Perhaps if enough complaints come through, they will begin to fix the stylus 410 defect as they should. Good luck. =)

Will not take picture

This has happened with 2 of our Stylus 410s. It has to do with the flash not working. If you turn off the flash, the picture will take. I am trying to figure out how to fix the flash portion myself...=)

No flash

It is a problem that has happened to 2 out of 2 of my Stylus 410's. Olympus will not reapir them unless they are under warrenty (or for $175). I filed with the BBB...we'll see if that helps. They really need to recall them. Good luck. =)

RM-2 remote control

Remote control is useful when you want to take a picture without touching the camera (self portrait, night scene, etc.).

All weather

The Olympus Stylus 410 Digital camera will not be damaged by water splashed onto it from any direction and can be used outside in adverse weather conditions such as snow or rain. The Stylus 410 Digital camera is all weather, not waterproof, and cannot be immersed in water. It is designed to operate at ambient temperature 32?-104?F and relative humidity of 30-90%.
