I have a Maytag top loading washer model LAT9406AAE . A couple months ago we replaced the lid switch because it stopped agitating and the tub seal because the tub was leaking, worked great. Now it has stopped agitating again. It drains and spins but doesn't rinse and when the lid is open the washer still runs. Does this indicate that the lid switch needs to be replaced again? Would you recommend replacing the washer?
My rule of thumb: Take what you paid for the washer new and divide by number of years without repairs. That is your cost per year for the washer. If the repair will get you another year and is less than the number above do the repair. If you have done more than 2 major repairs in a year it is time to think new. eric
When your lid is open washer will usually fill and agitate but will not drain/rinse and spin if door switch is not closed.(safety reasons). It sounds like you might have a problem with timmer. Also make sure the part on lid is there and tripping lid switch! Did you have a appliance person replace switch?
