1. Remove All External Devices
2. Check the Computer's Power LED
3. If the power LED has not changed unplug the Power Cable From the Computer Disconnect All Hard Drive Power and Data Cables and power on the computer. If still no go.
4. Remove All PCI, PCI-E, and AGP Expansion Cards .
5. Remove All Memory From the Computer
6. Reseat the ATX and 12-Volt Connections . The ATX connector will be a 4 pin square connector connecting to the motherboard from the power supply and the 12-Volt Connection would be the biggest connector with a lot of colored wires.
7. If still no go.
8. Disconnect the Power Connection to the Chassis Fan
9. If the light still flashes then it could be a power supply or motherboard failure. Try a good know power supply first and if that does not fix the problem it is the motherboard. Also check the back of the tower for 4 lights lables ABCD or 1234.

Check if it does a system beep when you remove the memory.
If it beeps then your motherboard is good.
But make sure the speaker pin is attached on your motherboard so that you can hear the system beeps.

try to remove any external devices first like hard drive, cd roms, and pci expansion cards. then check if it can boot but you have to plug the memory at this time.

Hope this will help you out :)
Thank you

Since that isn't one of the listed codes, it is important to see what the POWER LED indicates.
If it is Flashing Amber, most likely a bad power supply
If power LED is solid amber, then either the motherboard, or a expansion card in the motherboard has failed. Remove any expansion cards, (Modem, sound or video card) try booting again.
If no Change then a motherboard

I have a dell dimension 2400 with a blinking amber light what do i do

Hi,
The blinking amber light on the dimesion 2400 generally means that the power supply on the system has gone bad. Switch off the system and disconnect the power cord from the back of the system . Press and hold down the power button in the front for 10 seconds.
Reconnect the cable back and try powering on the system.

If the same ,fails you would have to take the system in for repairs

My dell dimension 2400 goes on standby automatically.

If the power LED on the Tower is blinking amber, then most likely the power supply in the tower is failing. Replace the power supply.

I'm not clear about the blinking amber light you are referring to. Is it on the computer or the monitor.
I checked Dell's web site for the service manual for this computer model, & found this document:
http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/dim8300/sm/adtshoot.htm#1102195

If the blinking amber light is on the monitor, check the connection between it & the computer itself. Make sure the cable is not damaged & that it does not have any broken pins in the socket.

Dell Dimension 2400 with steady amber power light and diagnostic lights of ABC green and D off. What could be the problem?

Steady amber power LED is indicative of a problem with the motherboard. Remove all external connections except power, remove all PCI Cards, ram, disconnect power from all drives, turn on see if power LED is still steady amber. If it is, more than likely the motherboard has a failure. Also check to see if the CPU heatsink is firmly seated (The plastic retainer has been known to fail causing the CPU to overheat)

Blinking amber light with green 4 light

If the power light is blinking amber, the computer is receiving electrical power, but an internal power problem might exist.
Try, unplugging the power cable from the pc, and reinsert it, if this does not help try a differnt power outlet, if this dont help, open the computer, take the power Molex conector out of the mother board and try turning it on, if this dont help, take out the Memory modules and reseat them, if this dont work you may want to ring up dell support.

Hope this helps!
