When I turn on monitor it instantly goes into sleep mode after a few seconds. How can I go into anything to fix it when my screen won't stay on long enough to go into anything?

Make sure that you have the video cable connected properly and tightly to the computer. You might also want to try pressing the auto adjust button on your monitor. It may have been manually set to another display mode by accident.

Settings brightness

Hi which monitor are you using? Connect a different monitor to same system to see if that monitor works correctly with that CPU with same settings or connect your monitor with another CPU which is working properly with different monitor to pinpoint exact problem first. Any monitor if gets old will have such problem. If monitor is okay then you can check if display driver is present or not by going to See how many output connections your monitor has if it has multiple input connections like display port, HDMI, DVI, etc, you can try connecting to different ports if your CPU supports to see which connection gives what type of display.

This video has partial information about display settings. You can right click on desktop and select properties and make it to default settings.

The monitor does`nt work, but the computer still works, how can I get a Dell monitor to work with the T41 notebook. I have them connected, but the monitor stays black

This may be a defect in the graphics card, since the external monitor (is it properly connected to the VGA-connector and is the power on?) should be recognized automatically and display instead of the internal monitor. The behaviour of the laptop in case an external monitor is connected can sometimes be controlled via the BIOS, which is impossibile to do if the internal monitor or the graphics card doesn't work. I'm afraid that, if you can't reset the BIOS yourself, this may be a case for the repair service.

It sounds like you just shifted the whole display over. I don't know how your monitor works exactly, but you should be able to use the buttons to navigate through a simple menu system, and either pan the display back to the left, or just reset to the default settings...

Don't know what I did, but the monitor on my D40 doesn't display what is captured by the viewfinder. It does display the photo after I snap the shot.

You may have accidently set your "Image Review" facility to off, in the camera menu refer to page 75 of the instruction manual. Also look at Custom setting 15  - Auto Off Timers, this is also linked with how long your Image review monitor stays active, refer to page 78 for this. Cheers Ian

Can't see "Setup" screen, or any other screens on t.v. monitor

There should be a tv vcr button on the remote control. What you done was you accidently shut off the VCR function. If you hit that button again the tv vcr button it will come back on.

Auto Adjustment won't work on Samsung 2253BW 22" LCD monitor

I looked up your monitor and that resolution is not supported. Which means auto adjustment will not work.
The video card will compensates for that, and resizes the picture for a display resolution that shows the picture anyway, (if it can) but isn't what you wanted. Your best bet is to use resolutions that are compatible, or get a (different) monitor.

Monitor flickering and adjustment buttons locked

If the refresh rate is not properly set the monitor may have a wavy or an appearance that lines are going down ... This may also cause a flickering affect.
Distorted or skewed image on monitor. Issue: Distorted or skewed image on monitor.
Cause: This issue can occur from any of the below possibilities.
  1. Windows issue.
  2. Loose or defective cable.
  3. Refresh rate issue
  4. Interference.
  5. Bad monitor.
Solution: Windows Issue If your monitor has a proper display until it gets into Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows ME, or Windows XP please see document CH000121 for software or setting related issues.
Loose or defective cable You may receive a distorted image when the cable is loose or defective. Disconnect the video cable going from the back of the computer and verify that no pins are bent, burnt or broken. Once verified re-connect the monitor cable.
Refresh rate issue If the refresh rate is not properly set the monitor may have a wavy or an appearance that lines are going down or across the monitor slowly or fast. This may also cause a flickering affect. Additional information about how to change the refresh rate can be found on document CH000558.
Interference A distorted image can be caused by magnetic or other types of interference. Verify no speakers, fans or other magnetic devices are close to the monitor.
Bad Monitor If the above possibilities have been checked it is likely that the monitor is bad. To verify this it is recommended that the monitor be temporarily disconnected and then connected to another computer. This can be a friends computer, a work computer, and/or a computer at a service center. You can also help verify a defective monitor by connecting another monitor to your computer. Note: Connecting your possibly defective monitor to another computer will in no way harm the other computer.
