Toshiba TDP-S20 lamp problem

I have a Toshiba TDP-S20 projector that will not power up the lamp.

It initially has the standby lights illuminated, but when one tries to power the lamp up, there is not even a flicker, and it then flashes a red lamp light on the top panel - which suggests a fauly lamp.

Now the lamp is good (and so are the 4 spares I have) as I have put them all into another unit and they all power up. The colour wheel is spinning, and all board connections seem to be in order.

Is there a secondary power supply that kicks the lamp into action?

Thanks

Andy

I have the same problem projector was working fine then when I tried to turn the power on (from stand by) green lights came on but no lamp light. After leaving it for about a minute the red lamp light came on. What can I do that won't cost a small fortune.

The lamp ballast which ignites the lamp has failed it sounds like. The red flashing lamp is the tell tale sign with a good lamp installed. Make sure the lamp door is closed too, there is a door switch that can also trigger the red lamp and no startup. There is a company in San Diego CA that can repair the unit called PROJECTOR DOCTOR

Projector will not turn on from standby

Hi, did you ever get an answer to your question? I have an ET20 which, after several months of non-use, has now stopped working. The standby light is on, it makes a startup 'noise' but then does nothing. None of the other buttons are illuminated. Is this similar to your problem?

Toshiba TDP-P9 Lamp time reset

Hi,
I had sleepless nights with my customers TDP-P9 projector where I changed the lamp.
The lamp timer resetting gave me headache but now I finally solved the right combo:
1: Unplug the power cord
2: Hold down 'On/standby' 'Input' and 'up arrow'
3: While keeping the buttons pressed, insert the power cord and wait for the projectors led's to flash briefly and then power button to keep illuminated and then starting to blink.
4: Release the buttons and power on, it should now have 0 hours in the timer.

Standby light for toshiba

probably power supply or ballast (starts the lamp)

either would be $600.00 or so to repair, probably costs more than the projector is worth.

Name

Hi j cwff

Ok this would be a faulty lamp if you can spot bubbles or vein like looking marks on it in either black or white.

I'm sure you'll solve this by just replacing the lamp and resetting the lamp timer.

No power

It seems like my toshiba goes into, stanby... i plug it up, and the standby light just flashes.. for a while, and then it stops until i unplug it and plug it back up... it will not come on...

Its like its in standby mold..

Does it need a new lamp..

I looked at the lamp, and it look like it was ok, but i did notice something they may look like bubbles, or something inside, im not sure though...

Reset Lamp Hours Timer

This works on a couple different Toshiba models -- might work on yours...

Make sure the main power switch is OFF. Hold the "ON", "MENU", and "INPUT" buttons at the same time and turn the main power switch on. Keep them held until the yellow power standby light comes on, then let go. It is done.
