Toshiba 57h81 with sound and no pic? no menu but guns are lit???please help...ps just replaced stk392-110 with same...before this happened...removed screen to clean and when replaced back on, i got nothing??

ok checked out ok, alittle loose but they all are flimsy..i removed that board when i replaced stk's..also after replacing stk's i had the famous flash focus error..but i converged all corners with remote manually..and only the visual went out is when i removed the screen to clean the back of it and mirror..no overspray and didnt touch the sensors??any help is greatly appreciated..thank you in advance

After the set has been on for 20 min., the heat sinks on those should be nice and warm. If they are then if you have a stand-up video I/O board with plug in jacks, make sure it is seated properly.....Try this first and let me know.

Hello,

Projector TV's have a tube for each function e.g. Video 1, Video 2, TV. Does the TV just not work or the VCR<DVD<Game console modes not work as well? If one works and the others do not you should be able to replace that tube, module, piece.

I want to clean inside the screen & picture tube lamps but do not know how to open tv my tv is toshiba 57h81, picture is little dusty

just take out all screws, use compressed air, be careful, etc, screw back on. some models require u to remove the speakers grill or something by pulling them off to reveal the screws

Bad filters on one of the video processing boards. you will need to have a shop do this repair, expect to pay around $250- $300.

Picture is not centered on screen. Image is bleeding off right edge of screen. Pic size button on remote says not available.

That sounds like a problem with the geometry settings which are uusually only adjustable from the service menu area. I don't reccomend that you try making any adjustments in that area of the menu, as you can cause major problems or even irreversable damage if you don't understand exactly what the value you're altering is affecting. You may also have a problem in the pincusion correction circuit, or the convergence circuits. That may be a TV that needs professional attention.

The sound amplifier IC has went bad and needs replaced. Call a good TV Tech.
Check with the BBB 1st before you decide on one.

Red color convergence on Toshiba 57H81

Often convergence issues do not require the entire board to be replaced. You can resolve it by replacing the convergence ICs. The part in question is STK392-110. You will need two of them and they cost around 10$ each. But replacing them is a pretty complicated procedure and I would not suggest it to someone without prior experience. A service manual should get you started in the right direction if you are planning to do this yourself.

PS: Disconnect from the power supply before you start the repair. Also read the legend, the hv circuits are denoted by a special symbol, so you will know what you shouldn't touch.

You may also need to replace the nearby resistors that may have popped the IC in the first place. Read the service manual for further details.

These ICs are the Japan types and available from partstore.com under part number C5AA00000108 for $29.08 + shipping apeice. These are original replacements for the panasonic parts. Good Luck Ps please do not forget to rate this
