Another solution is to replace the polygon mirror/motor if you are handy. ** do this in a dust free place **
If you have another laser unit that had a problem other than the polygon motor, pull the unit from it with this procedure.
It is located underneath the laser with 3 screws and goes to the small connector. Cut all cable ties and remove black backing. Remove screws from both units. Swap polygons quickly and replace screws.
Tape up areas where you remove the black facing. Cable tie the cables and install the laser ROS unit as per service manual.
Turn on printer and clear TechRep faults if needed as per manual.
Perform REGICON procedure. (I checked the print quality closely and didn't need it)
.... and you are done. Saved me many $$$$

Canon iR Advance 4045 error code code:E110-0002

There are several possibilities for the cause of the error message. Discerning which is applicable may well be a job for a technician. The error code E110-0002 on your Canon iR Advance 4045 indicates a failure of the Polygon Motor (M11). If the connector is not loose, replacement of a component may be necessary. It would likely require a Canon service representative to determine which, although the error message suggests the Polygon Motor.

  1. Check connection of the Connector (J1/J7/J10/J21/J208/ J8142/J8143).
  2. Replace the Laser Scanner Unit.
  3. Replace the Polygon Motor (M11).

On power up get the message "Laser Unit Polygon

That means that the Laser Unit is bad. I have fixed that error, by tahking the Laser Ubit's housing apart and removing the toner that accumalayes on the Laser itself. Proceed carefully, wipe tone off with cotton balls. If this does not fix it, it is the Laser Unit needing replacement.

I have a phaser 7700dn and the error code 44 has come up fuser sub lamp failure

THIS IS THE TEXT FROM THE PHASER 7700 SERVICE MANUAL, HOWEVER, SEE MY COMMENTS AT THE END OF THE QUOTE.

11 06-372 ERROR 11 LASER UNIT POLYGON MOTOR FAILURE
Note
If this failure reoccurs three times successively, an Engine NVRAM
value is set preventing further printer use until the Clear Tech Rep
Fault, Clear <09-380 ~ 09-383> is run.
Remove Rear Cover (RRP 1, on page 7-154).
Disconnect P400 (see figure page 2-46) and P401 (see figure page 2-46) on the Engine Control
Board.
Inspect both connectors to determine they are fully engaged as a unit. Re-engage, if necessary.
Note The two connectors can NOT properly seat into their socket(s)
unless they are both engaged as a unit. Ensure there is no
separation.
Carefully reinsert the plugs into their joint socket and FIRMLY seat them.
Replace the Laser Unit (RRP 38, on page 7-200).
Note Whenever the mounting screws for the Laser Unit have been
loosened, it is necessary to recalibrate the unit by performing the
RegiCon Adjustment Procedure beginning on page 4-124.
If the problem persists, replace the Engine Control Board (RRP 42, on page 7-206).

It has been my experience that 90% of the time the scanner motor (polygon motor) has gone bad. I have repaired many 7700 printers with this error by replacing the laser scanner. The part can be purchased at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/p-3060-1-116-1110-00-laser-unit.aspx

Laser unit polygon motor failure

This error usually means that the laser unit on the machine has failed. Just replace the laser unit part number 116-1110-00. I've bought couple of them from www.iteminconline.com. They also give good customer service for free and I think 30 day return if the part is not working. hopefully this helps

Unit 11 laser polygon motor failure

Most likely, all the problems you are experiencing are being caused by a bad laser motor assembly. We can send you a motor assembly for the laser unit and you can change it out yourself, however, we will have to charge for the entire unit since it makes one laser unit worthless. You would save on shipping that way. Aligning the lasers is a little tricky, but doable. The manual can be downloaded at: www.lpscomputer.com/ec/Phaser_7700_Service_Manual.pdf
The parts can be ordered at: http://www.lpscomputer.com/p-3060-1-116-1110-00-laser-unit.aspx
