Cannot connect via wireless network, router not being detected by laptop or ps3. I can connect to internet on desktop via modem through router. When trying to detect wireless network via laptop and ps3 nothing is found?

Check your wireless network name in your computer if it is wireless enabled.
Then go to your PS3. Go into the network settings and check if the wireless connection is detected.
When you check the network settings, make sure that ip and dns settings are set to automatic.
After that you would need to open some ports on the comp for your PS3 so that you can play online.
Also let us know the make and model no of your router so that we could tell how to open the ports on the router GUI.
Very first thing your PS3 should detect the wireless connection on it.

get your router name and go through manual setup, your brother may have accedentally made your wireless network hidden, to change that go to http://192.168.1.1 or .0.1 and log in and chang the settings to default

Connecting PS3 to a network I have LinkSys wireless router which is working perfectly for other devices (like laptop, Xbox360, TiVO). My wireless network is configured to NOT broadcast the SID and with a WEP key. After entering this manually in the network setup on my PS3, I was able to obtain an ip address from my router, I was able to open the configureation page on my router, but connecting to the internet would fail with some kind of DNS error. The way this was resolved for me, was to enter the DNS server addresses manually in the PS3 network settings AND use tetertiary DNS server from my ISP as either the primary or the secondary DNS server. ..btw, this also fixed the similar problem I had with my PSP.. you will need to enable internet connection sharing. Some laptops have the ability to create a network.

The easiest way to do this is to create a wireless network, and have your ps3 join that network and essentially use the internet through your laptop.

you could try getting a wifi adapter and creating an access point, you can connect that way if your ps3 has wifi I have a laptop with windows XP Pro and have been trying that my desktop PC with Vista Home can see it.
MY Components:
-Desktop PC with Vista Home (Main PC, connected to Internet with Ethernet to a Linksys Wireless Router B and G).
-Get internet thru cable TV (broadband),from this cable modem plugs to router and from router to PC Vista(desktop)
-Linksys Wireless G/B Router
-G-Card for my Laptop Windows XP Pro and
-Playstation 3 capable of sharing info and use printer

At the moment all of them have internet w different IP's (000.000.0.001, 000.000.0.002,etc.). What I want to achieve is that I can use the Printer that is connected via USB to my PC Vista (desktop) and share files. Right now the only thing been able to do is that my PC Vista see my Laptop but Can't find my PC on my laptop. Anybody, Help?
-When I turn On my media sharing in my PS3, my internet on Laptop loses it while PS3 search and find,then, because laptop lost wireless,the PS3 looses the laptop and I get wireless back. I knowis a stupid setting but tired of workin back n forth. Thanks

Check to see if your wireless card is displayed under “Network Adaptors” in “Device Manager”. You can access the "Device Manager" by going to the 'Control Panel", "Administrative Tools", "Computer Management" and select "Device Manager" located in the left side column. If it is detected and there are no alerts or errors, try uninstalling the wi-fi card, reboot the laptop and reinstall the drivers.

Well, I would guess that if you are hooked up now, then you have a wireless router. If this is the case then you should have rj-45 (ethernet) ports on the back of it also for lan hook-up also. Must come with atleast 4 LAN ports, 1 WLAN port (for the incoming internet signal from your cable/dsl modem), so if you use a reg. ethernnet cord, then yes you should be fine hooking your ps3 to your network(via ethernet cable to your wireless router from the ps3).

Don't forgett getting connection with your wireless network is not the same as gettin connected with the internet.

Suggestion: Clone your computer MAC address in the router.

I HV COMCAST AND THE BELKIN ROUTER AND I WANTED TO NO HOW CAN I CONNECT MY PS3 TO THE ROUTER.
