SOURCE: Error with memory card
When this happened to me, I accidentally bought a "type M" card and was told my camera was not compatible with it. I simply went to Fuji's website at www.fujifilmusa.com and upgraded my camera to be able to use this card (of course this would only work if you have a Fuji camera as well as the card)Go to "support & contact center-Digital Camera software & support" at the top of the screen. Select your camera and it will walk you thru the rest. I'd love to hear if it worked out for you.

Reconnect the camera to the computer. and then go through the closure sequence one more and do not unplug the camera untill you are told to do so. Aalso get onto the FUJI tech support team.
SOURCE: Card not initialised
You can recover the missing pics off your card get, there are some image recovery
programs available on the net and most camera shops will offer a card
recovery service but dont format before you get pics recovered.
Not formatting a card is bad. They need to be formatted on a regular basis because deleting images from card does not remove them and the next image taken only overwrites the old ones.
Common issue with the A8100fd. The most likely problem you are having is not enough light. Try shooting in bright sunlight to test the "graininess". Make sure you use the flash anytime the light is not bright. Even though the camera will shoot in low light (without flash), because it defaults to a high ISO setting, which (just like film) accentuates the "grain", or more properly termed in digital photography, "noise". Set the camera for a low ISO setting and use the flash whenever you see the "red hand" symbol on the screen.
SOURCE: Not good photos indoors very grainy and bad light looking photos
Auto mode in poor lighting (generally always indoors without flash) sets high ISO, which produces ugly amount of noise (graininess). What you need is to keep the ISO under 200 by either:
Shooting well lit scenes, using flash etc.
or
Uusing one of the manual programs (M, S, A, P) and setting the sensitivity via the F-menu.

Believe it or not- right after I posted the problem I discovered the solution myself. I put it to camera mode and pushed the dsplay button twice and ta-dah it was working. I don't know if it's normal for that to happen but I didn't have to do that before. But whatever works I say.
