Firmware upgrade botched

I lost power during a firmware upgrade. Now I can't remove the cd. The door will not open.

The blu ray player uploaded the cd then said to take it out...so we did. It then said that the screen would go black and the player would automatically turn off. The screen went black but the player never turned off. We finally unplugged it and replugged it in. The disc drive closed and is not constantly stuck on loading and won't let us open the disc drive.

VUP 0/9 KEEPS FLASHING DURING FIRMWARE UPGRADE NOW ITS MORE THAN ONE HOUR

I had the same problem when I made the mistake of trying to do a firmware upgrade via CD-R instead of the Network option. My player is no longer connected to the internet so I created a CD-R following the directions on Sony's site. The CD-R attempted to do the upgrade, but was stuck at 0/9 and I could hear the disc trying to read. The problem is the disc you created. You need to make another one. On the Mac, I used the Finder to burn the disc per Sony's instructions. That is what failed in the player. My second CD was created with Roxio's Toast Titanium, PC/Mac Data CD-R. If you have Windows, I would suggest using a commercial burning CD program, like EasyCD Creator and burn the two update files to the root level of the CD. Make sure the disc is finalized.
Next, you need to open the player to manually release the tray to eject the CD and swap it with your new disc. Remove the two back screws on each side. This removes the two side trim panels. Remove the two screws holding the top trim panel on each side. Then slide the top trim panel from front to rear to release the panel. If that doesn't work, open the CD cover door with your finger and then gently pull up on the top panel at the front edge to release the clips along the front, across the entire front edge. Then slide the panel back to remove it. Then remove the three screws at the front edge, and two more screws on each side. There is also one screw at the rear top edge. Remove the top panel. Then get a long paper clip. Looking at the front of the player, the manual eject hole is on the right side of the optical drive. Above the hole is an E engraved above the hole. Insert the paper clip straight into the hole and you should be able to push the release mechanism causing the tray to open. You might have to fish around a little. Slide the tray open and replace the disc with the newly burned disc (or obtain a disc from Sony for free through their website). Close the tray. You can leave the player open. Plug in the power cord and the upgrade will continue where it left off. It may take a minute or two, but you will see the VUP advance to 9/9, then finish. The tray will open and you can remove the disc. Close the tray and the player may reboot again. Once you see the No Disc message, turn off the player and pull the power cord. Reassemble in reverse order and reconnect your player to your TV and it will have the new firmware.

I have tried downloading from the samsung website lastest firmware update, which is an iso file when extracted it saves it to disc as a xuf file and the blu ray wont read this what am i doing wrong??

Read the Upgrade Guide (PDF) for instructions on how to do this. It says to burn a CD. The ZIP file extracts to ISO type. The guide tells you what format it needs.

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/search/supportSearchModelResult.do?menu=SP00&searchWord=bdp1400&searchInputBox=bd-p1400&find_button=

READ the PDF file under Upgrade Guide. Make sure you designate the proper file type when burning CD. Check your burning software.

How to make a firmware update CD
Please follow the below procedures.
1 Download the new firmware file from www.samsung.com
2 If the firmware file is compressed (*.zip), the file should be uncompressed to CD image file
(*.iso).
3 Please burn the CD image file on a blank CD-R/RW disc
1) Recommended CD Burning Program is Nero Burning ROM.
2) Burning Options (in case of using Nero Burning ROM)
A. ‘Recorder’ menu ?? ‘Burn Image…’ ?? Select an uncompressed image file(*.iso)
B. Please check ‘Finalize CD (No further writhing possible!)’
C. Please refer to your own CD burning Program Manual if you want to use any other
CD burning program for burning ISO image file.
D. Make sure if the downloaded software is eligible for your BD-P1400.
E. The System Upgrade will not be executed if using the update CD made with NOT
following the upper procedures.

During initial setup at the end i keep getting an error message saying that my router isnt connected properly. im running from a router/modem combination in my basement.

Are you trying to set up the router using CD ?
Sometimes the CD does not work.
You can set up the router manually without CD.
Now! the first thing is that you have WRT160N router. This router has issues with the firmware. I will advise you to upgrade the firmware of the router. Download the new firmware of the router from the web site and upgrade the firmware. REset the router and reconfigure the router.
You will need to open the set up page of the router to upgrade the firmware.

Caution: Samsung is not responsable for problems during the firmware upgrade.
When you encounter problems during the upgrade, please contact a Samsung Service Center.
If your drive is still in warranty please contact your retailer first. When you upgrade your firmware, please check the "Buyer" on your label of drive.
If you upgrade wrong firmware, you will have a problem in operating.
ex) SM-332B/*** 63BT123456 F/W=T403(***=Buyer)
■■ How to upgrade firmware ■■ 1. Download the attached "Bin file(firmware)" and "Sfdnwin.exe file(download
program)" into a temporary folder. 2. When you run "Sfdnwin.exe", Pop-up window will appear. you can see your ROM-
drive(s) in the Pop-up window.
Then choose the drive whose firmware you want to upgrade.
ex)Drive:SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SM-332B/T403 3. You will see three icons on the top from left.
If you click the first icon from left, you can see "Investigation window" then open
the firmware file that you already downloaded to the temporary folder. 4. You will see the message" Ready" after finding the firmware file that you want.
Then click the middle icon on the top of left. Then your firmware will be upgraded
automatically. 5. When you finish upgrading firmware , reboot your pc automatically.
■■Sfdnwin.exe : A program which can make your drive download our firmware(s) in Windows.
(It's for only Windows)
I had the same exact problem and thought the ROM was broke but it still played CD's. It's funny because when the problem started I thought I had really messed something up, and it turns out there are massive forums like these for the exact same problems. I hope I can ease a few minds w/ this. I'm running Windows XP, 1G ram, 100GHD.

My cd/dvd burner is missing..I have a a205-s5000 laptop and got up this morning with my burner missing. any ideas how to reinstall this? thanks I have uninstalled it and restarted the computer but it...

It sounds like you may have lost the controller card or firmware in the drive itself. If you have another drive you can get your hands on, it would tell you whether or not it a computer or drive problem. Take the drive out and write down the info on the drive itself. Go to the laptops or drives manufacturer and download the appropriate firmware and follow the installation prompts. Make sure you are on an uninterrupted power supply becase if there is a power blink etc. during this firmware upgrade, the drive will be useless and cannot be recovered...same as a BIOS update.

Sakar 49152n webcam

your computer might not recognize the sakar 49152N wecam if you connect it to your PC through a USB 2.0 hub if the hub also has slower USB 1.1 devices connected to it. This is a problem with the sakar 49152N wecam firmware, and downloading a firmware upgrade.

As a general word of caution, upgrading a device’s firmware is similar to editing your PC’s registry. Be absolutely certain you know how to perform the necessary steps before actually carrying them out. A botched firmware upgrade can irrevocably damage your hardware.
