Hello Collin, the problem that you will have that the replacement strips correspond to a lower screen size, you could have less illuminated areas, another problem would be the work tension, surely the 42 "strips have less LED than the 47, therefore the strip of 42 "would be working with a feed voltage calculated for the 47"
I suggest you try to get the strips for the measure 47 ", change them all, they are new, because for this work you must remove the LCD panel, very fragile element
I hope you can solve the problem
Greetings Franco Dosil

Fault with its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

SOURCE: The Led driver is not working no backlight. This is an LG 50LA6200. Is the Led circuit located on the power supply Board?

The control circuit for the LED backlight is most likely located on the main circuit board but it may have a dedicated supply located on the modular power supply.

Most supplies have legends printed on the board and found near the connectors.
With a multimeter, you should be able to verify the outputs,

SOURCE: LG 50la6970 no backlight i have sound and dark images!

Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ To some model sets; especially LED back-lighted types; the back-light inverter circuit will be part of the main power supply board [SMPS]. In such cases, the power supply board might need replacement. To some models sets, the back-light inverter and SMPS section circuit will be integrated at its main board itself. If so; the main board should be replaced. To some models of sets, all these section circuit will be integrated at its main board. If this is the case, you have to replace the main board.

My lg 47ln5400 led lights appear to have failed. Should I replace the power supply, or just the led strips?

If everything else seems to be working fine, it’s probably not a power supply failure. That usually results in the TV not turning on at all, or shutting off completely.

My LG tv model number 42LN5400-UA no picture

It is a common problem for the LG 42/47 LN series LED TV, the problem is defective LED back lights strip (strips).

You have to open the display panel to find the bad one & replace it. The part number usually is printed on the strips, read 6916L-11XXA, you may purchase it from EBay.

Can you tell if LED tv has bad LED strips before changing LED Board/Power Supply (as they're in one piece on a lot of TVs)?

This is not easy to diagnose, either use a meter on the power cable to the led or check the leds one at a time

Lg 47ln5400 picture went black. Still have sound and can see menu screen when using flashlight. Backlight blinks at power up then turns off. Which board is the problem?

I had the same problem with my LG 47ln540v led tv.I combed all the tv forums for answers and most suggested replacing psu board or the main board or talked about bad capacitors or resistors or transistors. Not being a technician I decided to replace all the boards including the t-con board and still the same fault remained.I spent about 5 weeks trying to troubleshoot this fault and eventually decided to strip the tv screen assembly apart and I wired up the led strips individually with a battery and found one of the leds was faulty .It would appear that if the part of the circuitry that monitors the led functions detects a fault it immediately shuts down the power supply to them,ie,enters a safe mode.I found a tv repair shop that was willing to sell me a replacement led strip from a used tv and this has solved the problem. As I have said, although I am not a tv technician I know enough about electricity to feel confident poking around inside a tv but for anybody else I cannot recommend this solution as messing around inside a tv is dangerous even when switched off. Some of the capacitors on the power supply board can store a high voltage and charge and could be lethal.I hope this helps.
