Check the gap setting of your points and make sure they are not gapped too far apart. Also you could have a bad condenser. If you have electronic ignition it will need to be replaced. If you have points, turn engine over and see if the points are opening up. If you have a meter you can check for voltage at the points as you crank the engine over.
