My Everex Stepnote 2053T would start a shrilling noise after startup. Muting the speaker doesn't help. If I put a hand over (not touching) the left part of key board, the shrill stops and starts again when I remove my hand. It will also stop if I tilt the notebook. What's wrong?
I opened the back cover on top of fan. The shrill is there whether the fan is on or not. It is coming from an area where the speaker is. It goes away if you have an object close to it or if the notebook is lifted up. While the shrill is on, it changes pitch as you rub against the casing over the speaker area (bottom side). Muting the speaker does stop the shrill (sorry I mentioned it didn't before). The speaker itself works fine (laptop standing on the side) when there is no shrill. I would appreciate any comments.I opened the back cover on top of fan. The shrill is there whether the fan is on or not. It is coming from an area where the speaker is. Hi. Something might have happened to the boot manager of your computer. Here's the solution for this issue. You should have you Windows installation disk with you inorder to do this.
Boot off the Windows DVD and then click Next at the first prompt:
You should see a link in the lower left-hand side for "Repair your computer"
The installation process will attempt to find your installation directory. If there's more than one in the list, select the correct one and then use the Next button again.
Click the first link for "Startup Repair"
The installation process will repair the system, and then prompt for you to reboot.
I have inserted an image of the bottom of your laptop where it says HERE that is the part you have to remove, and I shaded anarea in black that is to indicate the location of a screw that needs to be removed inside. You may have to pull down and push out to remove the drive. It is an easy repair you shouldn't have any trouble.
Two beeps is an indication of a memory problem. Try re-seating the RAM, you may need to replace one or more of the memory modules. Re-seating is the first thing to try. Good luck with this.
