My Sony LCD Bravia TV (KDL-46V3000) after turning it on displays a green light and display comes on for a minute then screen turns off for a minute but green light remains on, after nearly a minute the screen comes back on like normal but will turn off again after a shorter time. this will continue for about 3 times with shorter intervals until it switches off and displays a red light flashing 10 times before the 2 second interval (definitely 10 times have checked multiple times) I don't know what this error code means. When it is on the display is fine and I have sound and video but is never on for more than a minute at a time. I have opened up the back but I don't know which circuit boards do what and what to replace (I can send a picture of the back if it helps).

When the lamp fails in this unit, often the thermal fuse opens. The error code is 6 blinks. To replace this part requires a great deal of deal of disassembly.

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
Thanks to those who posted the solutions

A 6 flash error indicates a problem with the backlight. Your set is less than a year old and still in warranty, so you should contact Sony and arrange for a service call to get it repaired.

Sounds Lamp is weak in this TV.
Please replace lamp and procedure is written in TV user manual.

I think this sounds like my problem (need to replace the projector lamp). However, when I hit the "on" button, my SXRD 50" blinks green for about a minute then starts blinking red. Can you confirm the bulb solution? I was very pleased with this sight when my fan malfunctioned. I got the fan in a matter of day's from Sony and it fixed that problem.
