The iPod will stop itself from charging when the battery is full, and will not overcharge. I'm pretty sure you can't disconnect the power to the iPod (would stop it from charging) and still use the Audio to your stereo.

I just solved the problem with my kenwood dpx mp 2090U - (looks similar with 501). FL Display with single CD, USB, 2 Din.
I should share this......... as I received the clue from someone that share the same case to me . Thanks to Mr,Nasirbaek from Indonesia,
The problem is at the main board . Dry (bad) soldering occurred. There are more then 5 resistors in series configuration. The resistor is quiet big (1.5mm x 3.5 mm, surface mount type R) about 2,7Ohms.The position is start from near usb port cable and ended to near big transistor (1 x 1.5 cm power transistor). After resoldering check with multitester to make sure that all R are connected in series configuration.
Just open 3 screws to access the main board. 1 at the top case. 2 at cd assembly, then Carefully take out the CD and the CD ribbon cable.
good luck.

Dpx-u5120 dosent show subwoofer option in function mode , how to fix it ?

I manage to slove to my DPX-U5120 Subwoofer level adjustment. In STANDBY mode, Press the Main Volume button and turn to Setting, turn until you find the SW Preout, Swith to normal mode, its won't work if u switch to REAR

Go back to CD/USB Mode, Then Press the Main Volume and find Audio Adjustment and now u can find the Subwoofer Level , Sub Phrase and Sub LPF adjustment.. Um Glad i found this and Happy Setting

Just brought the kenwood dpx u5120 car radio and the manual is not in English, just wondering if u can send me a English version or just steps to setting the clock?

To adjust the clock. All you do is hold down the bass boost button untill the clock flashes, then use the volume button to adjust the time and the forward and reverse buttons to switch between minutes and hours. When your finished setting the time just press the bass boost button again to finish.

Common Kenwood Security Codes
Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes:

KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models.
3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models.
1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners.
Entering Your Kenwood Security Code
If the car battery fails or is disconnected, the Kenwood will ask for the security code.

The procedure to enter your security code differs on various models of Kenwood car stereos. Here are three of the more common procedures:

Type 1

Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 2
Press the "Auto" button and "Track up" on the face of radio at the same time until the four dash lines disappear.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.
Type 3: Model# DPX-4020 and DPX-4030
Press and hold the 1 then the 6 preset keys until the display shows the letter 'C'.
Enter the security code using your Kenwood remote.

Your Kenwood should then enter tuner mode.

A Security Code Bug in some Kenwoods
There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.

In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.

Aux input. Kenwood ecelon dpx-701

You have to go into the menu and turn it back on. It is in the menu under "built in aux" and just switch it to on.
