Check its connected to a network, the DHCP server is probably your router if you have a small or home network.

SOURCE: Wireless router problems

your computer is only connected to the signal coming from the router that's why it's saying connected but it seems that your router is not properly configured to provide internet access since your dns server is the same as your default gaetway. it could be that the your router is not in sync with the modem.
- if it's working before, tyr to power cycle everything by turning all the devices off then turn on the modem first, wait for all the lights on the modem to turn on then power on the router and the computer.

- if the router is for initial setup, kindly provide me you ISP, brand and model of the modem and how you connect the modem to the router and tell me if how you access the internet directly from the modem.

SOURCE: Netopia DSL Router (DHCP Server) was giving address to connect to Internet

If this is a DSL Gateway Router, check the settings on the modem and make sure that the DHCP server is enabled.
it woould be of great help if you could provide the exact model number of the Netopia modem so that I could check if there is configuration page which you can access and check the settings..

SOURCE: PXE booting errors

I don't have any experience with this product but I am 99.9% sure your problem is with Option 67. This path is from the root as defined for the TFTP server, i.e. root for the TFTP service is not the same as root for the server proper.

Most likely it should be something like:

\Boot\GhostNBF.vfd

SOURCE: can't connect to DHCP server

HI! I bliv u are having some issue setting up ur router.. I will be more than glad to assist u. . here are the steps u need to do:
1. press the reset button on the back of the router for 20sec..while pressing the reset button, unplug the power plug and after 2secs while pressing the reset button plug it back in and press for 30secs after that unplug the router for 15secs then plug it back in..once all the lights are solid and ok
2. connect the ethernet cable to port1 of the router and the other end to the lan port of your computer..
3. pull up ur browser then type at the url:192.168.1.1.or 192.168.0.1 or u can check the routers default gateway by right clicking the network icon on the lower right of your task bar and click on status and it will show the ip address of the computer, subnetmask and default gateway, the default gateway is the routers ip address, once u type in to the url, it will ask u the username and password, by default the username is admin and the password is 1234 or just leave it blank
4. it will show the setup page of the router. u can set the router on the specific internet setup that u have.
a. if ur isp is a cable company, normaly u need to do a mac clone on the router setup page by cloning the computer that is reg to the cable company, how to determine it. ex. the computer that is reg to the cable company is a desktop or laptop, if this computer is connected to the modem directly and u can access internet.
b. once u determined it u need to connect this computer directly to the router and do a mac clone and set ur internet settings to auto-dhcp..then save the settings and after that, unplug to the power of the modem and router, plug in 1st the power of the modem then once all lights lit, plug in the router, then once all lights lit, try to pull up a browser that ur computer is connected directly to the router.. ur cable connection shud be, cable from the modem will go to the WAN port of the router and connect ethernet cable on port1 going to the lan port of the computer..once u can access the internet, u can now access again the setup page of the router by typing at the url:192.168.1.1 and u can setup the wireless settings, u need to create a ssid or wireless name and a security..
5. If ur isp is a dsl normaly they give u a username and password to connect to the internet, ur settings on the router should be PPPoe
6. If ur isp gives u a static ip address settings, u need to set the router to isp setup.
a. how to check the isp of the isp given to u..
1. click on start
2. run
3. type cmd
4. it will show a dos prompt
5. from the dos prompt type ipconfig/all
6. it will list the ip address, subnet, default gateway, dns server
this settings should be type in to the settings on the router for static ip addressing..
7. Once your done on the internet setting, go to your wireless connection settings and you can create a wireless network name or ssid, set a security by selecting wep, wpa, wpa2.
8. once all is set. save the settings and to check if your laptop can access the wireless network that you did, turn on the wireless switch of your laptop, once its on, it will show the wireless network icon on the lower right of the taskbar, right click it and select on view available network, the network name that u did should list, just select it and connect and it will ask for the password, just type the password and connect, you should be connected to the wireless network and have internet access..
9. If you are going to hook up your desktop to the wireless connection, you need to install a wireless network adapter, install the driver and do the same thing as u did to the laptop, for the desktop no need of turning on the wireless switch, once you install the driver correctly, it will show a network icon..
if you have any query pls feel free to get in touch.. good luck

Ricoh 301 cannot connect with dhcp

A:If you cannot connect to the printer with DHCP, you have a few options.Connect it to a different network, perhaps one with a different DHCP server. If it connects to that one, then you know there's something wrong with the DHCP server or DHCP config on the network.Connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable and change the printer's IP address to a static one that you know works on your network and is outside of your DHCP server's range.Connect to the printer's web interface (usually at http://printerip:631) and change the network config there.

Ihave a ricoh SP C340DN that cannot connect to DHCP server (101)

this mean your device Cannot obtain IP address automatically from DHCP server.

check - DHCP Service is running on your network (most of the time with router)
check - your device is set as DHCP Client (from network settings)
or assign manual IP address to your Device
(with in same ip-range and subnet mask on your network)

Best of luck

Print complete skipped due to error?

Assuming this is installed on a local PC via a server. On the PC - Go to Control Printers (enter control printers from the run command) - Delete the printer - Click on another printer - Select Printer Server Properties - Click on drivers - Delete the driver. If it does not delete then restart the print spooler and then delete it. Once deleted add the printer again. I had this happen and this was what I did to fix the issue. It seemed like the driver got corrupted or stuck in some odd setting. Hope this helps.

Limited Connection Error

A limited connection on a Windows PC usually means that there is no connection to the internet on that segment. That is if you connect to the printer via a network switch or LAN. Newer printers can act as a DHCP server/router assigning IP addresses to LAN clients. It has no impact on your LAN if you do not want or need a connection to the internet. However if you want to access the internet from this PC I suggest you get a separate router and use that as the DHCP server on your LAN. Connect the PC and the printer to the router and disable the DHCP server on the printer. Also make sure that all devices (PCs and printer) are using the router as the default gateway. Once again if you don't need an internet connection the limited connection shouldn't worry you.

DHCP installation problem

First of all, read this M$ article on setting up DHCP: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/139904

Secondly, check the following:
1. You have defined a valid scope and ACTIVATED it
2. You have AUTHORISED the DCHP server in Active Directory (see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc759688(WS.10).aspx)
3. Make sure that there are enough unused IPs in the address pool
Make sure that the DHCP server service is running - and check the EVENT LOG for errors
4. Make sure that there is no other, especially unauthorized, DHCP servers (i.e. router with DHCP enabled)

Actually the best article overall to review is http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc781697(WS.10).aspx, which gives a big picture view regarding the role of DHCP autorization and what can happen in a mixed environment

The HP Laserjet P2015N is showing an IP address of 0.0.0.0 it is set to pick up an IP address fron DHCP but it is not. I have tried Factory Rest and normal cold rest. Any ideas? Also we have a few of these...

the printer will only show the 0.0.0.0 IP-address when he cannot contact the DHCP server. check your physical network connection (see if the leds next to the network port on the printer are lit or flickering) and the DHCP config for this printer. if you work with a manual DHCP, you need to enter the printer's MAC address in the DHCP-entry for this printer.

How to enable ICS service

Are you running Windows Server 2000?

If so - this is a well known problem with 2000.

When you have a server running Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) or Dynamic DNS (DDNS), the Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service may not function correctly or may cause some services to stop working. In addition, various error messages may be displayed.

To resolve this issue, do not run the ICS service on a DHCP or DDNS server. NAT (which is installed using routing protocols in the Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) snap-in) works correctly if you do not enable the DNS Proxy service or the DHCP allocator.

HP Officejet printer

i assume that your printer is connected to a network. if so, it could be that the printer is set to use dhcp for the ip address. and if that's the case, it's better to set the printer to use static ip address since there would come a time that the dhcp server (a router most of the time) would provide another ip addresses to all the devices connected to it. that could be the reason why you are getting a "no connection" message (disconnecting and reconnecting it at times would solve the problem temporarily).

here are the steps on how to set static ip on the printer using a windows computer.(Note: the installation cd can automatically assign a static IP address as long as the printer does not obtain a dynamic (dhcp) address)

- boot up your computer the normal way so it'll get an ip address from your dhcp server
- then turn off your dhcp server so that the printer will not get any ip address via dhcp
- reset the printer to set its factory default configuration (with no dhcp address)
* unplug the printer from the power
* plug the power cord back in while holding in the printer’s
report button (it will try to find a dhcp server; after about three
minutes of no dhcp response, the printer will default to a static ip address of 192.0.0.192

- then print a configuration page to confirm that the ip address of the printer is set to 192.0.0.192

- then press the report button (wait until IP address is 192.0.0.192 before proceeding. if it remains set to 0.0.0.0, check the network cable connection to the printer and to the network is secure. If some other address appears repeat steps 3 and 4 until the default address appears
- you can now start the software installation cd

*during the installtion, follow these steps:
- select the model of the printer that you are using which is hp officejet before clicking on "next"
- then select "do network settings for me, then press "next
*follow the instructions on the remaining install screens
- the software will pick an ip address in the private 169.254.x.x range (not available on the open Internet) and permanently assign it to the printer. it will also set up a static route to that address in the computer’s printer configuration
- turn the dhcp server back on by turning on the dhcp server by
connecting your cable/dsl modem or dhcp to the network. because the hp now has a permanent static ip address, it will
no longer try to use dhcp server to get an address
- install the software on the other computers on the network who will be using the printer. the installation software will discover the hp printer at the 169.254.x.x address, and will add the static IP address in each computer’s printer configuration

Note: if the installation cd will permit you to change th private ip address from 169.24.x.x, it's better to set it on the same range as of the ip address given by your dhcp server (for example your dhcp server provides ip addresses starting from 192.168.1.100-192.168.1.250, set the printer's ip address to 192.168.1.59-below or any ip address that will not compromise any ip addresses that were already being used by your other devices)

hope this'll help you but if you'll have other concerns just ask me.

ciao!
