Loosen the adjuster on one side of the deck and level off the deck and retighten. This should be done on top of a solid surface so u get it perfectly parallel to the ground.

You could wire it so the fwd latches until stop is pressed, and the rev button momentairly so it stops when finger is removed.If you buy a brand with a general purpose (NEMA 1 ) enclosure you could put buttons in the cover, some even have buttons made for their covers.
The problem you are experiencing is caused by a broken cycle solenoid "link". The "link" connects the solenoid plunger to the slide change mechanism. Over time, the "link" (made of plastic) gets brittle, cracks and the projector stops cycling. Parts are still available (www.micro-tools.com), but this requires an experienced hand and a service manual. Once done, your projector should be good for another 20 years !!
