Question about Briggs & Stratton Garden
The family number won't help you get information. You need model and code numbers. If you knew the model I can explain how to set it up. also what is this engine used on?

The needle valve may be stuck which would not let gas into the carb. I don;t think rebuild kits are too expensive. Pull the carb and take it to a lawnmower repair shop and they should have the parts. Before that though pull the bowl and make sure it has gas in it. If no then remove the fuel line and make sure gas flows from it. If no then could be the fuel shutoff valve is not operating properly or junk in the gas tank is obstructing the line.

If the float don't float, the needle valve stays open and gas runs into crankcase.
If float floats (has no gas inside) then the needlel is probably worn and needs replacement.

Hello, I have a older B.S. replacement engine for my sears riding mower. I have got it all installed but my gas tank is in the rear under the seat. The engine doesnt come with a fuel pump. I bought a vacum pump but does'nt have a port. I under stand the in and out on the pump. I took the engine cover off looking for a vacum port and cannot find one. I also looked all around the intake not one there. The only thing is the air breather. Can someone assit me in hooking this up to make it work. Thanks so much

Check to see if the carb is clean, if so the anti diesel value could not be working. Apply 12 volts to value and see if it move's. If that works then you may what to check the fuel pump and see if it pumps. After you tried all that then you may have change the main jet size because these engines come with a small jet for the EPA.
