The instructions above are perfect for most Maytag Dryers, but the Neptune MDE4000AYW is built differently from most. To open it, undo the two screws that run through the door hinges, and remove the door, then undo the two other screws that are on the opposite side of the doorway. With these four screws out, you can lift the front panel UP and out. Make sure you unplug the dryer first :-)

Look at the front of the dryer. About 3 inches from the bottom of the dryer on the far left and far right are two philips head screws. Look real close as they are hidden. Take they screws out then the bottom pulls out towards you and the top slides down. After you get that off, taking the rest of the dryer apart is easy. NOTE: When taking the belt off note the postion and at which way the belt is sitting on the drum, also note how it goes around the pulley as you will catch heck putting it back toghter if you dont... GOODLUCK:)

Model mde4000ayw wont heat up

Could be one of the limits on the heater housing or the element itself. To get to them on this dryer you must remove the door then you can get the goalpost shaped front panel off. Then the drum support can be removed and drum itself. The Applianceman has a marvelous youtube video which shows how to get into the dryer.

The beater bar in my Neptune dryer modeL # MED5500AYW has come off and needs to be replaced.

It sounds like you are referring to the drum baffles when you say "beater bar". If that is so, you need to remove the front panel then raise the top cover to access the baffles mounting screws outside the drum. Below is the link to the procedure I posted previously.

I have a Neptune electric dryer model MDE4000ayw. The clothes keep getting stuck around the barrel as the dryer is operating. What is the problem? It also makes a very loud noise as it operates.

You need to disconnect the dryer from power source, open the unit, it sound like the drum has holes on it that stucked your clothes when turning. this problem common to all maytag dryers. The front support glide had chop up . You might likely change the drum or tumbler.

I have a neptune dryer. It is making a rhythmic

I normally only comment on Electrical Dryers, but you problem sounds like something that is common to all dryers.
Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
If you have a front loading machine, You will probably have to remove the top of the machine first, then remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.
Check your rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them replace them.
If they don't then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps

Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication.
You did the right thing by removing the front of the machine, that is how you check the drum rollers, idler arm with pulley and the motor.
Unplug the dryer, remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt, remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers.

Change rollers on a Maytag Neptune Dryer

You have to work from the front. Pull the top then the front then you will be able to see everything. Pretty self explanatory.
