Panasonic 50'' Plasma TV TH-42PX75U - Cannot Control Back Level

I have a 50'' Panasonic TH-42PX75U plasma TV and it has been working great for about 2 years but lately I cannot access the color matrix and black level options in the picture section of the menu while watching tv. The 2 bars are red with SD and Dark faded out. I am able to access these options watching a DVD, etc.
I have tried resetting the TV settings and the satellite receiver and many other things with no change. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Bulged Cap issue is to do with power sub-system and generally more in the LCD/LED tv not Plasma.

Our Panasonic 50" TH 42PX75U

well it sounds like something fried inside the tv. In my experience, this sounds like your y-sustain board went bad. it could be your video board also. considering todays value of the 50" panasonic plasma, it will be cheaper to replace it, unless you are willing to spend around $300 to get it fix at a shop.

Where is the reset button on my TH-42PX75U high definition plasma television?

typicaly there is no actual reset button try uplugging for 2-3 hours it might work for you as its how a hard reset is done if not it may be a factory or brand specific method to do so on your tv but usually the hard reset is sufficient ok good luck :)

Plasma displays do not have backlights. The ionized gas (plasma) in the pixels is the light source, just like a tiny neon light. If your screen is dim or blank, check the high voltage supply that ionizes the gas.

This could be a reception problem of the cable transmission or the cable box if used. Are you using cable or SAT box. Tv goes to blue screen if signal is weak automatically.
