I have a friend who doesn't have a PC, so he asked me to try and help him. He has an iLO 27'' Wide Screen LCD TV, LCT27HA36. connected to Comcast with a digital box, last night he shut down the TV like he always does. When he turned it on this morning all he could get was a black screen, through his cable converter box he could get his music and he could change the channels, so he had sound but no picture. We tried pulling the plug to see if the set would reprogram itself but to no avail, any idea what the problem is?
Likely a failed fluorescent backlight or the inverter that supplies the high voltage to it.
I'd like to suggest a potential source for parts or service but the earlier authorized service company was Initial Technology and their webiste is no more so the company is probably defunct.
Ilo was sold only by Wal-Mart and our 32HD failed after 6 weeks and when returned after several weeks from repair, had the LCD panel damaged which didn't show up until we tried using it full screen and saw the flaw.
You may have some luck here:
Possible Ilo parts source
Otherwise, I'm afraid your friend is just another victim of a Wal-Mart junk supplier.

Hi there! Power supply or Inverter may have failed. Ask for a quote from your local repairer and decide whether to repair or to replace. Best Wishes and Good Luck, JUS004
This TV is using a power supply MLT168A that has defective capacitors. Replacing the capacitors might fix it, but in some cases the failure is more then capacitors.

lcd tv 27inch wide screen, mo. 1lo lct27ha36, no power, power lite stays red, if i hold power on lite just flickers. this type set has no on off pulling the wall plug is the only way to kill the power to the set.
same thing happened to my ilo. There are four capacitors that are bad on the power board. You can usually tell its bad because at the top it bulges out. Here is what you need to do. Unplug the tv, open up your ilo find the power board ( the power cord plugs into it). Then find the capacitors that are bad (they are the around things usually in blue color) and remove them by soldering the other side. On mine there where three 1000uf 16v and one 470uf 35v. Those are the ones that need replacing. I replaced them with a higher voltage rating 1000uf 35v and 470uf 50v. All you need to do is solder them back on but make sure you solder them back the right way (plus goes to plus on the board or you will be in trouble). I found the capacitors at radio shack for about 1.50 a peice. If you dont know how to solder look it up on youtube. If that does not work there might be couple more bad capacitors that need replaceing just need to find them and you can tell by a small bulging top.
It might have reset during the night only thing you can do is be certain it is connected directly to wall plug without a power strip. or http://www.funai-corp.com/support/contact.aspx
This is a very low end low quality made TV set. I would suggest you take it back and see if you can exchange it.
From my experience, I would suggest getting a good quality brand name TV set. Most of the Sony LCD TV sets have earphone jacks, external outputs, and come with a full set of instructions. They are also strongly supported for service during the warranty period.
I having the same problem. Called the company $80 for a new remote. I only paid $300 for the TV. The company said they have not given out the code for the television. What a CROC! Like the TV, but probably won't buy another.
I have a ILO 27" TV Comcast had no suggestions for programming their remote. I went thru the ENTIRE code book and finally came up with one that worked: Emerson Code #0463 for my COMCAST universal remote.
