I'm trying to print onto glossy postcards, but the ink keeps smearing. I thought the deskjet 5650 was good for photos on glossy paper so it would work for glossy postcards. Any ideas.
Hello there jbaerpynes.
You must use HP branded glossy paper in this particular printer as recommended by the manufacturer. Because HP ink is much finer than most other inkjet printers, the ink sometimes does not set in properly on generic papers, especially glossy ones, and can smear right off.
Try new paper and get back to me. If you have any other questions, please
don't hesitate to comment on my post. If I helped you, please give me a
positive rating.
Thanks.

Sorry, not the same thing. Think about it. A glossy postcard has been printed on with ink already. Glossy photo paper is specially coated to absorb the ink from your printer.
Printing on a glossy postcard would be like printing a photo on glossy paper, then running it through again to print something else on it. That is just not going to work.
No sure what your doing, but you could purchase clear address labels, print on them and then apply to the postcards. Just a thought.
Thanks for using Fixya.
