Try holding down both speaker A and speaker B buttons then turning the power on. Alternately you can try holding down speaker B and Mode buttons while turning on the power.

SOURCE: remote lock on my denon

Hi.

Here the unlock procedure:

  1. Turn the power off,.
  2. Press and hold down the speaker b and mode buttons at the same time.
  3. Keep holding while turning the device on.
If that does not work, then firmware is defective. In that case you will need to contact Denon. The firmware is not available online.

Try performing the procedure, in ordinary conditions this should unlock the unit.

Regards.

Ginko.

Cannot disable panel lock

This may not work, as it appears to be for a different model, but it states:

How do I unlock the panel on my DRA-397?

Power the unit off using the On/Off button. (not the larger On/Standby button) While the unit is powered off, press and hold the "Speaker B" and "Mode" buttons. Without releasing those buttons, power the unit back on. This will unlock the panel.

Denon dra 397 shuts done if I turn on both zone a & b. Have a 100 watt volume control on each pair of speakers. Works fine with only zone a or zone b on, but not both.

Let's understand this - you have an external volume control wired in series with each front speaker set?

Can you elaborate on their electrical characteristics?

I have a Denon DRA-397 Receiver. It was stuck with the "Panel Lock" but I followed the instructions here to hold the "B" and "Mode" buttons while powering on. It unlocked the panel. Now the Reciever is...

Check for a reset of the receiver. If no mention in manual you might want to check with the manufacturer for a code . If nada then the electronics are fubar and you are SOL.

Denon DRA397 Panel lock on.

Hello,

Denon has for some reason removed this function from their user manuals. However The manual does show how to do a manual reset of the unit. This may correct the issue.

With the Amp OFF but plugged in, press and hold the speaker A and B buttons and while still holding them press the POWER button. Continue to hold the speaker buttons for another second or so. The display should all light up and flash at 1-second intervals. If not flashing, try again.

This should reset the unit back to factory state with the front panel lock disabled.

Remote lock on

This worked for me, but I'm sure tired of constantly searching for ways to fix the problems I encounter with my Denon DRA-397. When it works, it's great, but I don't have a degree in electrical engineering. Why can't they produce a user friendly trouble shooting guide?
