Black Screen, Audio only , TV will not turn off

I was watching 2007 VIZIO 47 LCD TV, I left the room for 30 miniutes and came back to a very dark grey screen with a few random streaks of light and audio only. I could not turn off the TV set either manually or with the remote. I unplugged teh TV, screen turned black. I called the VIZIO Tech support. I followed their directions to hold for 1 minute the on-off switch while unplugged. No change. While plugged in, there is no glow from the back of the monitor. Technician stated the backlight may be burned out. Could this be instead a burned fuse? Where are the fuses located to check?

Back light out,panel defective.no fuse will correct your problem.panel is bad.

Defective LED back lights strips, or damaged EEPROM on main board. I will try a main board first, if you do nor have a TV LED strip tester.

When the picture is dark, show a torch light on the screen from a safe distance. If you can see the picture, the backlight is the problem. Anyhow, it is better to show it to a qualified service technician.

I have a 2008, Vizio VO47L 47 in. LCD TV. When I first turn it on, the left side(facing) of the screen is dark. Not completely black just shadowy dark for over an hour. Then it goes away, It used to last...
Faulty T-con board or mainboard (AKA tuner board)...the tapping would make me believe it to be the connection of the LCD panel to the T-con board that is causing the issue! This board is located on the top of the tv while looking down from the back. Replace it and you will be good to go!

Red screen on vizio
Purchased a VIzio TV and ended up with the Red color where the black should be and all the answers on here scared me.... so called Vizio Customer Support on a whim - just in case...Rep told me to unplug it for a bit and then hold in the power button for 5 seconds and then plug it back it. Worked like a charm for me :)
Not all fixes will be this easy - but worth a try. Good luck!

Vizio GV42L LCD TV screen black when turn TV on first time
If you are using a set top box this might be caused by turnig the box on at the same tie as you turn the tv on or slightly after you turn the tv on.  If you are using compnent or HDMI inputs the set needs to see the signal as it is turned on to know what formt the signal is in.
