TomTom screen frozen/won't turn off

Try holding down the power button until the unit shuts off and resets.

On the map display touch the screen once

Look for the spanner / wrench icon and touch that once.

Kepp using the Right arrow until you see RESET FACTORY SETTINGS

Touch YES.

That should make it as you bought it.

Try resetting the unit. Little black button labeled reset on bottom.

To reset your TomTom device, do the following:

1. Check that the battery is charged properly.
   Charge your device for at least 2 hours before trying to turn it on again. Make sure the charging light on your device is on.
   
   
2. Remove the SD card
   If your device uses an SD card, remove it.
   
   
3. Reset your device.
   Use a straightened paper clip, or something similar, to push the reset button for 15 seconds. See the pictures below for where to find the reset button.
   
   
4. Turn your device on.
   Press the On/off button for at least 5 seconds.
   
   
5. Insert the SD card
   If your device uses an SD card, insert the SD card.

I had this problem with a frozen screen and could not turn tomtom off,i was getting very frustrated and nearly got my 1 wood out to it, I resolved the problem by going to tomtoms support page and clicking format internal memory(or memory card) ps, before doing this make sure you have made a back up then went to tomtom home to update device it took a couple of goes but it did the job mine is working perfect now hope this helps

I talked to TomTom multiple times on the phone and had same problem but finally found this. It's better quality and it's available.

Easy, simple take a pen and press the reset on the bottom of the Tomtom, just like any other electronic device.

A little trick:

1. Make sure the device is off and connect it to your computer via USB (green light should be on)
2. Hit the reset button on the bottom.
3. Hold down the power button until the device restarts.
4. The device should automatically connect to your computer.
5. Run TomTom HOME and check for any updates.
6. If there is no new application, try: www.tomtom.com/9091 <-- that will show you how to remove and then reinstall the application.
