Broken off black hose in reservoir tank - can I use the machine if I don't use the frother?

You can use the machine forever like that, the black hose is a return hose, it's there so water can return to the tank without you hearing it dribbling into the tank. The clear hose is the pickup hose.

My Kitchen Aid Pro Line Espresso Machine has stopped heating the water on the espresso side. It still pumps, but it is not hot. The steamer side works fine.

Hi I have posted a service manual and a parts list here

It sounds like the boiler element or maybe the thermostat. You have to take the top part of the machine off to get a good look at the water boiler.
I have uploaded a not very good strip guide that I got from the internet, I have used it but it makes thing overly complicated to my mind, but here it is anyway.
https://rapidshare.com/files/3189994876/KES100_strip_guide.zip

It has written instruction that relate to two diagrams in the PDF.

Won't stay on

If you mean the switch will not lock on then replace the switch and check for steam boiler leaks while you are there. Steam is the cause of most switch failures in this model.

I have a kitchenaid KPES100PM espresso machine and every now and then water will start leaking from underneath the machine.

Push the center top of the water tank in as far as you can without breaking it. Do this each time you refill.

How do you change the gasket in the coffee dispensing part of the KitchenAid Pro Line KPES100PM Espresso Machine? My coffee is smelling like a rotten gasket. Seems to me I should be able to dig it out...

Remove the filter grille with the single cross head screw in the middle, then undo the 2x allen head screws now exposed. It may require some sideways levering with a large screwdriver once the allen screws are out to move the aluminium puck. You really do need to get it out to clean the puck up. Make sure the 4 holes thru the puck are cleaned out properly with a drill and buff all surfaces up with a wire brush. Remove the old brew head seal and clean up where the puck came from then refit the puck and push the new seal into place.

Steamer/frother leaks and cannot be completely closed. I have been told that I must replace a rubber gasket on the espresso system. Is this correct?

Not a solution but a note. Kitchenaid got sold off to whirlpool and they almost immediately discontinued this model. I had two of them with the same issue, that of leakinghigh pressure lines. I can't even find an appliance repair facility that will touch this model because they can't get repair parts. Spent a lot of money on two espresso machines that don't work.

KPES100PM Espresso Machine - will not make espresso

While I am familiar with Kitchenaid espresso makers, I am not familiar with this problem. I would suggest calling Kitchenaid Customer Service, as you will have options under your Pro Line warranty. Their toll-free telephone number is:

Kitchenaid Espresso maker no longer dispenses hot water from frother

by frother you mean it puts out steam ? if yes then I need to know how long you hold down the button and have you checked the hose in back to see if it has cracks or is kinked?
