Demo screen When I power the unit on I get a demo explaining everything about the gps unit. I can't exit the semo. I tried to reset it, but nothing happens. I wonder if something might be wrong with the cradle?

Reset use a soft reboot. Or hard reset make sure you back up all your settings on fish finder with chip or home computer. OK guys so the first thing you wanna do when resetting your unit whether it's soft reset or hard reset we're gonna start with a soft reset which is gonna save any GPS data anything like that so we're gonna head over hold the Power & Page button press the power button we're going to go over and press power button but I'm at the unit but up until you see the warning screen where you have to except the depth on reset Can see we still have our Saved waypoints. OK now I'm gonna show you how to do a hard reset again turn the unit off you should always use the power key never just flip the main power switch to off then press and hold the plus minus key as well as the power key let go of the power key keep holding plus minus until the warning screen comes up in a hard reset your going to delete all data on this year it's gonna be like we just bought it went to the store and bought it and cam home with know data whatsoever no settings nothing OK I warning screen has came up we can let go of her buttons and press except start demo. OK so now you should not see any saved data so that's how you do a hard reset and a self reset. Load your Data card and shut off the power key. Then turn back on and follow screen steps. This should fix you issues.

While the demo mode may be the power-on default, I would try pulling the plug overnight to see if it will reset itself.

Sometimes these will go into demo mode for no apparent reason. You can access the diagnostics screen by holding the map/music button while powering up. Be careful which buttons you press in this mode - select only the on-screen buttons, not the hard-buttons as they adjust brightness and contrast. Select the correct operating mode and power the unit off, then on.

Do a hard reset.

Turn the unit off, then hold down the menu and map buttons, simultaneously, then turn the unit back on and continue to hold down the buttons down for at least five more seconds, then the unit will power up. At that point it's like the unit is being used for the first time and you will have to reset everything. You will lose your XM presets, but the MP3's were still there.

Also after if this does not work, plug in your garmin and mount it, mac or pc whatever, then go in your garmin file erase all maps should be gmapsupp.img or gmapprom.img. Reload your maps from mapinstall.

Do you have any unlock code for your unit? Delete this code "demo" from MapSource and put unlock code for your unit and try to download to unit a small part of maps.

to deactive demo mode press menu on the remote...then w/that screen up push the screen mode little gray button at the top of the remote...note that this will not change anything on the screen...i know weird huh...now type in the numbers 9012 you should now be at a new menu the top opption is demo mode...choose it and then choose on or off...good luck i see this i an old post but i hope it helps someone...

Try a hard reset....with power off hold enter button and page button while turning on unit ....this should reset to factory setup, should now be able to switch out of demo mode

Reset the unit by pushing a bent paperclip or pin into the hole on the bottom marked 'reset' turn it back on, plug it in & charge it via USB overnight or as long as you can in the car, make sure the led on the top is green, tap the bottom right of the screen & check the battery symbol on the unit says charging underneath.

First off you may want to check what kind of SD card is in the slot. it's underneath the rubber. I haven't worked with the 2000's all that much so I'm not certain if your concern could be fixed by changing a setting in the settings menu of your 2000. Look for the word Demo everywhere!
