you can try to pull the unit out and take it outside and wash it out with a water hose just don't get the electric parts wet sounds like it may be dirty there should be drain holes on the bottom of the case.

A line tapping (saddle valve) needs to be installed on the refrigerant suction line. Recommend only a certified technician perform this repair.

Either blocked drain or the unit is not tilted back enough.

You need to clean out the drain pan.Also unit shold be tilted back a little so water will run outside.

Remove the front grill and using an old tooth brush clean out the bottom pan where water is laying.Also be sure the drian hole outside the unit is clear.

air conditioning units are measured in btu's stands for
(British thermal units)

6,000 BTUh to 10,000 BTUh will cool 400 sq.ft approximately

10,000 BTUh to 16,000 BTUh. will cool about 800 sq.ft approximately

16,000 to 28,000 BTUh will cool 2,000 sq.ft approximately

the idea is more but's the more cooling power it will have.

the drain may be clogged or clean filter/coils

I'm guessing its a window type A/C. First Remove the fron cover of the A/C, its a snap on so you just need to gently. Next is pull out the inner assmbly, the drain pan usually has a handle curve you can pull, be careful not to drop the AC. from there you can clean the unit and declogg the drain by hosing it down.

Remove the front panel, & look for the drain tube that runs from the drip pan under the cold coil. It is likely blocked & may be cleared with a piece of coathanger wire. Be gentle.
