Magnavox 42" tv has no picture, but still has sound

My 42" plasma tv just went completly blank and still has sound? The manuel said it could be in "protective mode"? Is there a reset button or sould I call it quits?

Hi there! Sounds like the Y-Sustain and/or Z-Sustain boards. This should be written on the boards. Check the fuses on these boards and if found to be blown try replacing with the same rating fuse and see what happens. If not successful then the boards will have to be replaced. You may have to also replace the control board if these come in a kit and not loose. Also check the voltages to these boards. The Power Supply also have a role to play in all this. yes...the video card could have gone out but most likely you have a connection that is loose or bad. I would check those first. If you have done so then I would try another video port and verify that it is the screen that is out and not just the port you are in.

It sounds like the color wheel has gone bad and needs to be replaced. This is located behind the back panel... replacing a new colour wheel will solve ur problem..

Magnavox Plasma HDTV Red light
I had a similar problem with my magnavox tv with the blinking light issue. Eventually it just didn't come one anymore. Looking at other forms they said the problem was a bad capacitor number 2074 located on the power supply board. When I opened my tv, I noticed that the capacitor was bulging and burnt up. I bought a new one labeled 2200uf 35v and did some solder to attach the new piece. Put the tv back together and it works like new. No more blinking light. I hope this helps.
