The washerstops about 6 mintes into a cycle and then cycles on andoff but doesnt continue washing, i have pulled the cover, checked the tech code sheet, can manually pump the water out, it can do everything else but make it spin. No error codes show up either. Pulled the JP4 connector and ran the motor board test, it makes noise and then spins for a few seconds but the belt doesnt spin, which may be normal. I am wondering if when you wash and it reachesa point it needs to drain the water does the cyce spin at the same time (we are talking about 6 minutes into the wash load), which could be why th load stops cause it keeps tring to spin. software version is 3.17t, board input test 117ot, output showed just ot, all of these checked out ok - hot water, fabric softener, bleach valve, cod water, drain pump, lid lock - so i know there isnt a blockage in the drain hose.
HELP !!!!!!!! - I dont want to spend $170 on a new motor board when it ppears to work fine for something that turns out to be simple.
I have a 3 year old neptune top load and have experienced the same problems you all have had here. Problem: Washer was leaking 1/2 gallon of water every load and sounded like a freight train on spin cycle. I usually do my own repairs but didn't have time so I called A&E by the recommendation of Maytag. Diagnosis! The tech said the tob o-ring seal was bad as well as the transmission. I had no reason to dought this professional right. I did after he told me the price... $450 to fix it!!!! I reluctantly gave him his $65 service call fee and said goodbye..
I called maytag and they said the transmission should have been covered by warranty (10 years). The tech was either an idiot or just plain trying to rip me off. I called Maytag back and they sent me the supposed bad tranmission and seals. I replaced them in 1/2 an hour. Guess what.... This did not fix the leaking or the loud spin cycle noise. What is the problem with this neptune model? The problem for every owner including myself has at minimum been the main seal inside the outer tub. This leaking for months took out the bearings causing the noisy spin cycle. I replaced both 6207-2rs bearings compliments of ebay for $6ea. After reassembly it was like new for the first load. On the second load it would stop on the spin cycle.... It would cycle between the agitators and trying to spin but never engaging into spin. After 5-6 minutes it gave me the code that stated an unbalanced load. What the problem was is the leaking had made its way into the clutch as well. I pulled the clutch/pulley back of and cleaned and lubed it. Problem solved! She now goes into spin and has no problems whatsoever. I'll never call A&E again...Mechanically this washer is a piece of cake to work on. Electronically it could be a bear... The bearing replacement took approx. 2 hours total from start to finish. Next time I'm buying Kenmore and the extended warranty. I'm tired of screwing with this junk... Good luck guys.... Jos Roach... CA.
This looks like what I have. It would wash and depending on the cycle, it would stop around the 21-26 min mark or 12 if I was doing a quick wash. I took the front panel off and noticed that when it went to spin, it would go in one direction for a few seconds and then reverse and move and hesitate and stop> I took the belt off and the clutch assembly would spin freely in one direction and not the other. i removed the tub itself and took the clutch off, the bearings had seized up. i replaced the clutch assembly, old one was definetly bad. after replacing clutch, I discovered the motor is now bad, probably due to the clutch siezing up. Good news is motor is covered by Maytag for 5 years, I have about 3 months left on the 5 years. I will update after I replace the motor. Clutch is aprox 140.00.
Sometimes when the spin cicle start make a stumble noise not to hard and suddenly stops, and keep doing the same until the end. got to replace the clutch, is a recall, call maitag and verify

WASHER WONT SPIN IT SHOWS NUMEROUS CODES
My washer model FAV6800AWQ starts a cycle and never finishes. It has no fault codes, however will continue in the wash cycle and never goes to the spin and drain cycle. I am guessing it is the control board. Any suggestions?
All wash cycle selections stop about 6 minutes into cycle. Every minute or so you can hear what I think are the agitators turning and then it stops and starts again. The Spin Cycle will not work so as to empty the remaining water in the tub. Basically appears to be the same problem as others have reported. If anyone has had repaired, please post what was replaced & approximate cost. This machine is only 3 years old and washes an average of 3 to 4 loads per week.
My fav6800awq (bisque) goes out of balance, has several codes, reads dc. and once uC. Tested everyhing and think it is the clutch. There is an updated clutch after 2005. This appears to stop the high speed spinout which results in water in the tub. A&E guy said tub displacement sensor bad, I tested it two ways and believe him to be wrong. It is doing what it is supposed to. Any other thoughts or ideas?
does anyone know where I can get the pdf for of the repair manual for this washer as well as I ordered the bearings online as suggested above, but that wasw before i knew there were seals as well - where can i get just the seals - and the repair manual pdf is so i know how to put the bearings in
My Maytag Neptune FAV6800 AWW keeps shutting off with the error code UC. It leaves some water in the tub. I hit the Pause button and check the load which is off to one side of the tub. I readjust the load and hit the Start button. The first thing the machine does is to readjust the load again so that it is off to one side. Then it tries to spin and the error code UC comes up again. The clutch, water pump, and load sensors have been replaced by an authorized Maytag repair service. I am waiting for the fourth service call. They say this cannot be fixed and the machine has to be 'junked." It is 2 1/2 years old and I am out $1,000.00 plus tax, delivery, and warranty expense. They will give me a $500 credit at Sears only because I purchased the warranty for $200. Net loss is $900.00.
April 9, 2008. Washer would not drain NO error codes, would do everything till time to drain, then would cycle through trying to drain FOREVER, turned off and unplugged. Called A&E tech arrived in 2 days (not bad, $72 charge). He thought it was the control board, I asked to make sure, due to the part and return service being 10 days WOW, I decided I would install. To my dismay control board damaged, called and had them order another, good thing the control board is under warrany. the day before the scheduled appointment, the 2nd control board arrived, looked good replaced and still same problem, started looking at the manual and thought of the clutch. The next day tech showed up and asked if it could be the clutch. He was'nt sure. I said I bet it is! Sure enough 3 hours later and $350 bucks it was the clutch, bearings were bad. This washer is pretty simple next time I will make time to fix myself if it is mechanical.
I just got up this morning to the sound of my Neptune TL washer still trying to go into spin, over and over. It was still at 38 minutes, where it was last night when I checked it beofre I went to bed. It will not go into the spin, even when I set it on just the spin cycle. Sounds just like the same problem all of you have had. I am so glad you posted this site, so I don't get sucked into the costly repair. Mine is 3 years old also.... I think we can fix this ouselves. At least I know what is causing it. Thnaks for he info. I could not find my mnaual this mormnng.
My washer will go out of balance no matter what size the load. I've check the codes out and the tube balances arm out and there seems to be no problem .
Same problem It is stuck in the spin cycle and won't empty the water and spin. It sounds like it keeps trying but just stops ans code pc comes up after about 5 or 6 minutes.
We have a 3 year old FAV6800Aw Problems with the spin cycle. The machine keeps trying to readjust the load no matter what the size. I have taken the advice of the other posted issues regarding the clutch. I removed the clutch without any problem and ordered a new one. I noticed the bearings to be pretty dry and sticky. The sleeve that travels on the bearings did turn freely but only one direction? I am assuming this is part of the bearing design to allow the spring steel coil to work as designed for the clutch assembly? I repacked the bearings but since I already have a clutch assembly coming in tomorrow I will install the new one. The question is, Should the bearing sleeve only turn one direction "Counter Clockwise"? If the bearing has failed could this cause the in-tub agitators to continue to rotate introducing the out of balance spin cycle issue?
I have the same problem with my Neptune FAV6800. I spent $88 to get a wrong diagnosis- the tech thought it was the control board but it was not and ended up being the clutch which he estimates to be $180 and the repair labor charge to be $350. Does anyone have a solution for me?
My machine stop after 10 min, of starting. It shows a nf or of. Not sure what that means. And it also will do 2 loads and it I went to do a 3rd load it will not start. HELP
I had the same spin problem and my machine is onlly three months old. The first repair service replaced the tub displacement sensor assembly. The washer started spinning again but only for one load of cloths. I complained to the store where I purchased the machine and he suggested a different repair service. That service repaced the clutch.
PROBLEM SOLVED!!
If you are having 'UC' or 'dc' errors I suggest that you ask your repair man to replace the pulley & clutch.
question for maj7th tyou are still out there. How did you drive out the outer tub bearings? Did you use this tool to remove amd install the Spinner Nut? Thank you......Rich
I replaced the wax motors and it works the first time but on the second wash it doesn't
