Have a brand new Maytag top loader. It only works when lid is closed. I realize this is for safety reasons. However, after doing laundry for 25+ years, I'm used to having the washer fill up with water as I'm putting clothes in. Can't do that with this washer. I can see no switch of any kind on the lid or the console. Where is the switch located and can it be bypassed? Thanks!!!!!
The newer top loading washer designs don't use standard switches as was typical many years ago.
Today, these washers use a magnetic switch, and bypassing is not easily possible, due to the logic circuits that monitor the washer and all the various cycles.
For any reputable tech to provide a instructions to bypass any safety feature, would be highly irresponsible and would expose us to legal action by this site and the product manufacturer.
Please understand, providing a way to defeat a product's safety feature is against the law and will remain on the internet for years to come, along with the person(s) that provided it, exposing me and my family to a potential lawsuit - sorry, but I wouldn;t do that for my own family, yet alone some stranger.
Just chaulk it up to new technology, just like seat belts and air bags have changed auto safety.
Hope you understand and find this Very Helpful - Enjoy your new washer and best regards!

I would recomended, becouse it is not just lid switch, on this model it is a small conroler..but if you still want it...it is on thge back of your top lid, right on the center..open your lid and look under
