Wont play CD's

I have had the Denon s-301 for a year and a half. It works great! It plays my ipod and DVD's with no problem. I tried playing a music CD and it will not play. I tried another music CD. Nothing PLAYS. i get the zero's on the display, push play and I get the "circle with the strike through" symbol. As if pushing play is an invalid entry. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Lisa is right, i finally got through to customer service .They said it was the laser pickup that specifically reads cds. Here is what they told me to do. 
    Go to http://usa.denon.com/
    under support tab click on service and parts network
    under the factory service request form, click on online form. 
    Fill out the online form completely, click on submit. You pay $55 with a credit card and ship the unit to new jersey. They will diagnose the problem and call you with an estimate. The 55 will be deducted. I still have no idea how much it will cost to repair. The cool thing about this is, you can simply ship the unit itself. No need to send the speakers, wiring or subwoofer. The factory will have all of that on hand. 


    If you dont want to ship your item to new jersey, you can take your unit to best buy's geek squad. Best buy used to sell this model and they will fix it. But, you do have to give them all pieces of the unit. I have not taken action with either option as of yet. But anyone having problems with their denon not playing CD's, it is not operator error and a 25 minute hold time will tell you the exact thing I am telling you now.

    Hello,

    I have the same problem. The S-301 does not ready any CD's. This happened progressively. In the beginning, when insisting, the CD ended up being recognized by the palyer, but now it is all the time. Haven't had the time to contact the Denon support.

    Same problem after one and a half years. Also started just once in a while, but now will not read or play any CD's. DVD's work fine. Live on a small island and no way to get the unit to a service facility. Denon should stand by a relatively high end product like this.

    Exactly the same problem. A year after buying the S-301, it stops being able to play music CD. Very disappointed especially since it's so pricey. Will never buy another Denon. Ever.

    I have the same problem    301 does not play CD's   does not recognize them  I took it to a Denon service dude who said 200 for the part and 120 to fix it.  I can buy a cd player for that,  no reason to fix.  This does appear to be a factory defect.    The service dude says this is inherent in all these dual drive type setups.   Thank you Denon.

    I have the same problem here in the Uk with the S 301, first it would not play the odd Cd , and I thought nothing of it, now after the warranty has finished it became a regular thing. Now it point blank refuses to play any audio CD's. As far as I'm concerned this is a design fault with the unit that Denon must have known about as so many people are experiencing the same problem. This was not cheap and Denon should stand by there product and reputation. I will contact them and see what they have to say. But if they don't play ball I'm going to go on to every website that I can find who are selling the latest s302 sytem and warn potential buyers of the issue in the feedback section

    I can't believe it but I have the same problem. My S-301 would intermittently not play CD's now it's almost 100% of the time.

    Has Denon helped anyone with this issue? If not, perhaps a class action suit would be called for.

    Exactly the same happened to my S301.

    CDs played well in the beginning, than some issues appeared and now it is not playing any CD. Definitely a design issue! This is not what I expect from a quality brand like Denon.

    I have the same problem. My CD Player from my denon S-301, chose which cd-music played.

    Such a error sounds stupid but very real. Is a manner of time that all S-301 2005 models are going to get such error. I guess this a factory defect.

    I hope somebody from "Denon" find a solution more real and economic.

please let us know if you get through to denon. I have been on hold as well for some time. Good to know that the problem is not unique but i hope there is an easy solution.

    not being read after 1.5 years (after the warranty period). Now if you

    being able to play CDs when the TV is on mute as have many others (just

Pionner cd-iu200v plays video from Iphone, no picture on avh4100

Check the initial settings menu (you will probably have to reset the system to get it to reappear) and set the aux 1 to IPOD. This will let the ipod video play via the aux 1 just like it is supposed to. This solution is buried in the manual but is really hard to pull together.

Simple thought... are you trying to play a Blu-Ray Movie disk on a Denon that not Blu-Ray Compatable? That would do it.

Zone 2 speakers will play from tuner but not from cd player

Yes, the unit must be opened to access the lens. Open up the top and you should be able to get at the optical assembly. Clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol. Try a DVD. If the problem persists, try playing a music CD. If the music CD plays but the DVD does not, the optics are starting to fail and should be replaced.

Denon avr-5600 protection circuit.

My AVR 5600 has worked flawlessly for nearly 9 years!

Suddenly, when trying to play music (DVD or CD) through my LS32's (JBLPro), once I achieve higher volume, the receiver cuts off.... Using a Symetrex mixer, NO OVERLOAD light on the Denon, it simply cuts off!

Re-cut all the wire connectors... TV movies (5.1) work great at normal listening volumes.... but tonight, when cranking up music, the receiver simply cut off. Blinking light...

Ipod

Try restoring the ipod, this will erase all music from your ipod so make sure its backed up. it erases all of your ipods software and reinstalls it this will almost definitly fix your problem. if it doesnt, than the problem may be mechanical

Ipod wont work

The problem is "ipod dock receiver connector"(connector is fuck), move forward and backwards the ipod just point the ipod can play the songs..
